I had just decided to go with Republic for a sliding patio door. Their product compared favorably with Champion's and I much preferred the co that will install versus Champion's sub contractor crap shoot.

Now, I'm hearing rumors that Republic is going out of business. I still could get out of my contract and the sales rep suggested a Solartec wood clad door for more $ as an alternative. My questions are:

Does anybody know the Republic situation? Should I proceed with Republic?

Any thoughts on the Solartec (Canadian co.)product?
