Rough Opening - Brick Wall - Frame Needed?

Hi,

I'm replacing a rotted, wooden basement window with a vinyl window. The wall surrounding the rough opening is made of brick. Is it necessary to "build out" the rough opening with wood (or another material) or can the window be attached directly to the brick with masonry anchors?
