Good Choice for My Sofa?

I think they'll go well because of the colors and pattern. The larger pillow (in the back) has the same shape and similar pattern as the medallion in the center of your rug (which, BTW, is gorgeous!). The smaller ones are also complementary. As you know, it's all about symmetry and color for me LOL. Your choices are always so interesting, classic and tasteful. I have to ask...which sofa is this?

Thanks, mrsmarv--your opinion means a lot to me. This is the sofa in my "study," the one I was going to slipcover, but that turned out to be too expensive a proposition. my3dogs is going to make a couple of pillows for my LR, but I need new pillows for the study sofa, and I thought these were a good choice. Needless to say, I'm glad you agree. :)

I love those pillows (I have them in the aqua/gray colors) :)

You do??? Can we see a photo, patricia?

Beautiful pillows! They are a bit similar to the ones in my LR. However, with the three sizes I'm wondering how you will arrange them? Like they are shown all grouped to one side? Then what about the other side?

You know, I would love to show you but they might not be recognizable if I took the pictures. My kids dread coming to see me because I use them for photography. You think that is why I haven't seen them in 3-4 weeks. I cannot focus well enough to do pictures with a camera, not even a regular camera because of optic nerve damage. Sorry, I am not much good for anything.

I love those, too. I think they're the same I momentarily considered buying last fall but they were out of my price range. The style is so classic and the variety of colors works nicely with so many sofa options.

Okay, well, I'm an idiot. Those aren't the ones I just purchased. Here are the ones I just purchased. They are considerably more muted. I hope you think these will work, as well.

Assuming the colors work (which is hard to know for sure from photos), I actually think I prefer them for your room. Knowing that you will fill the wall with your dog pound, I think a more subtle pattern between the rug and the soon-to-be wall of dogs is good.

If they don't work out, you can turn around and sell them on ebay.

I actually like the more subtle pattern for your couch. I think they should be nice!

I would hold off on adding too much more until you get your dog portraits on the wall. YOu may find that the colors in them lead you down a different path for accent colors.

funkyart and les: Thank you! You have put my mind at ease. :)

I had originally bought two RH honey-colored Belgian linen pillow colors, when I thought I would be slipcovering the sofa. Clearly, I jumped the gun--lol. I didn't check the size and they are 20x20--waaaay too big for this little sofa. I got them for a ridiculously low price on ebay and they are beautiful--but I now have nowhere to put them--quite seriously. Anybody need two gorgeous linen pillow covers? :)

Could you use them as decorative pillows on one of the beds in your home?

OSH, you are NOT an idiot. How many times do I have to tell you that! You are very bright and I LOVE the pillows you got. In fact, I like them better than the ones I had that are like the ones in the picture (except aqua/blue/gray). These are much, much prettier although the others are pretty. I think I got mine at Home Goods but cannot be sure. It was one of those days when I let my emotions overload my credit card.

I like the "new" ones better, as well. They're a very nice choice with your sofa. They are a beautiful, subtle blend of colors that are just perfect. You've done it again ;o)

    I love them!

Hey, Organic, you're #2!! lol. And Patricia is trailing close behind in 5th Place : )

That's because I haven't shut up for almost a month. Rugs, pillows, slipcovers--I've been all over the damn place. But school is starting soon, and I shall soon slip off into the never-never land of academia, and will seldom appear on the great GW. :)

Can you imagine what I used to rack up, lol. Have you seen these stats before?

Seldom appear! : ( ... until your next project!

I actually like the second pillows because not only the colors are more muted; I also think the pattern scale is better with your rug. They will be beautiful in your study.

OS, is this the sofa you are going to recover? I didn't keep up with that thread so I don't know where that discussion ended. I like the pillow you purchased for this sofa, it's a dead on match.

We'll miss you when you go back to school. How do we contact you in the event we find a chair or rug we think you'll want? LOL

How about you get a blackberry? Then we can email you when there is a new chair or rug on your CL we want you to check out for one of the forum members. Trust me it works--very effectively with my DH.

brutuses: I'm no longer going to recover it. Duane, over on the furniture forum--as well as the upholsterer--said the cost would exceed the quality of the sofa. So I'm "making do"--odd concept. :)

brutuses and val: No worries--I'm sure I'll be popping in sometimes, just not every friggin' day, all day (off-and-on). Nice to know you would miss me, though. :)

val: I can't even figure out how my cell phone works. I'd be lost with a blackberry. :)

I'm so not with it, what is a blackberry? Or will I be sorry I asked? LOL

OSH: The pillows (2nd set) compliment your color scheme perfectly. I've always looked forward to your post and I'll truly miss your comments. I was always the person who thought "how can you get so wrapped up with people you don't even know?" now I know. Can we expect to hear from you during the holidays?

mldao: Oh dear: I'm afraid I've given the wrong impression. I won't disappear entirely--I'll still be around. But I have spent way, way too much time here over the past month or so, and I really need to pull back. Now that school is starting, I'll be really busy and won't have much choice! You are very, very sweet to show your concern. I have enjoyed your posts, as well. :)

The pillow thread ends as a goodbye party???? What? No! How 'bout popping in as a night cap? Squirrel will be awake! This is my entertainment, sad as it may seem. My kids think THIS is the same as the imaginary friends thay had when they were toddlers, lol!

haha kmcg.. I am real!! (pinching self)

I do get the life/schedule changing thing-- as I also just returned to work. They don't let us ease into it, darn it.. they slam us with it. I am just glad that you made as much progress as you did in your time off-- each addition to your lr, study and guest room has made a big difference. Unfortunately, I have created more problems and more projects with the bits I did in my time off haha.

One more thought-- the more I open and read this thread the more sure I am that the original pillows don't "feel" like your room-- the "new" ones you ordered are perfect. Cant wait to see the dog pound grow!

Every time I see that rug, I love it more (if that's possibile).

Just live with your room for a while and after a bit of time passes, you'll see which part of the rug intrigues you the most and you can carry on from there...paint or no paint, accent colors etc.

    Just stumbled on these:

    Rabbit

    Dogs

OS -- what about slip covering the sofa instead of reupholstery?

This is the thread with the dog pillows (though I didn't even look at the prices).

sarschlos: That's what I was going to do, but it was too expensive!

squirrel: Thanks--I never would have found the link otherwise. Those look like really high quality pillows.
