    LOL

    nope not yet... next weekend.

The girls and I spent time last week cutting, tumbling and sorting all the glass, and it along with all the stars are spread all over my dining room table.

Everyone keep you fingers crossed that next weekends weather is perfect... PLEASE!

Dang it. I'm anxious to see them (can you tell?) LOL!!

I made pastry bags with my seal-n-vac and they used thinset very successfully! Tomorrow we grout.

Jane, my client on the BOD of that org said she will watch my BB and that it is in the silent auction. So I won't know what it does till I see her again. I really don't expect it to do well, the silents at that auction are always a steal for bidders (I'm sorry to be missing it)

What?? Well, at least we got a picture! Details, woman, details!
BTW, that girl in the blue doesn't look like she's paying attention!

Cool Nice, looks like they are having a ball.Hope your piece did well at the auction!!!!!!

Please show us a finished picture!!!

Oh! How fun!. Looks like you had ton's of stuff for them to use too. What a great set up. Hope grouting went well.
Can't wait to see more pics!

    Hazie

WOw, you rally had lots of stuff!! Hope the grouting wasn't too messy!!

NT, you must be the most popular mom for fun things to do. I can't wait to see the completed projects.

How fun!!! I was wondering about your stars the other day and figured I had missed it somehow. Cant wait to see the finished product!

Even if its a silent auction I hope the ball does well, which ball was it? I cant remember.

    Alrighty!!!!

grouting was surprisingly good, except I could not convince them to pick just 3 colors so I mixed 4 batches...
But while I was mixing, my little 6 yr old DD got impatient and proceeded to grout the majority of her own star and I MUST say, she did amazingly good!

Now, let it be said that I didn't really give them much instruction past applying thinset either with the bag or by spreading with a craft stick. The girl in the blue, could not master either of those concepts - choosing instead to use her fingers. Which then meant she coated every surface of everything she touched... LOL

But here's the sticking point - she was the only child who would NOT be here for grouting! LOL and I said that I would do hers... OKay, did you know that it was possible to layer tiles on one another then bury them completely, and... AND... that you can set tiles on end with enough thinset??? bet ya didn't know that huh? lol but ya know, ??? I like hers - it's different!

well, here they are. Lets start with the twins, someone always has to copycat right? Guess what I was the copier! LOL I was resigned to doing 6 yr old DD's bidding and it was'nt long before she decided what she liked - the other girls' design! I had to wait for this girl to decide on the next color before I could continue. The only reason they are different was that the final choice of black gems was running short so I gave them all to her and went a little multi colored at the end. Breda accepted that I had no choice! LOL

Here is "haphazard" girl... I have not cleaned it yet in this pic... which took hours or seemed too

    {{!gwi}}

This one took the longest, even after everyone was done - she was still deciding on what to use where. BTW - that was my DD! LOL I do like hers alot, very neat and good color combos. She likes big grout field in everything she makes.

    {{!gwi}}

now these next two seem to be... free spirited. They probably would have benefited if I had offered less choices of tesserae. But still very nice.

Now... Mama has a star leftover to play with and lots of glass... what shall I do? heee heeeeeeee

Yep, I knew that girl in the blue was gonna be trouble! LOL
I like your older DD's design the best. And it was a good choice for your younger one to copy that neato one too!

I bet this party will be in the society section of your newspaper!! This can be your side business. Mosaic b-day parties!

Those are so nicely done! You realize you will be the talk of the school for awhile after this bday party! They must've had fun for things to come out so well. Way to go momma NT, you rock! Love all of them, kids artwork is always wonderful to me.

How cool. Bet they all had fun.

I am going to steal your idea. I know my daughter would love to have a party like that. They where awesome!

Chickee, it was the pansy ball!

    {{!gwi}}

LaLa, I really feel like my DD values the art projects we do together and to have a party sharing this process with her friends - made her feel really special.

but that said, Bama - no freak'n way! lol My mother used to say "I only like my own children" and to be honest I'm a lot like that too... I really only like my kids, not all kids! LOL

Those came out amazingly good!! You have a lot of patience! They all did good, though, didn't they!

They'll all remember this a lot longer than some store bought themed party!!

Thanks for sharing this with us, NT....what a wonderful Mom you are. You put a TON of work into this. What a special thing to do. I think the stars turned out great!!

I think those girls will treasure this memory for quite awhile. The stars came out great!

What fun they must have had. You're a special mom to do all that preparation, and I'm glad you get one to do yourself as a reward. They're all really nice too, they must have been tickled at what they made.

I hear ya about "my own children" . . . and sometimes I don't like them too much!!

I'm proud of the way you handled "blue girl" - she probabaly has no one who listens or values her opinion. You made her feel special (I'm CERTAIN) and that means so much to a child in the long run.

Wait til she comes back to you while in her 20's and reminds you of this day.

Yep you are a special person all right!!I think they all turned out great and you making them turned out awesome too!!!

What a great thing to do, and you put a lot of prep work into it, way to go MOM!! Wish I had something like that when I was a kid!

They all turned out great! What a fun party.
It kind of reminds me of being little. My grandmother baby
sat all of us grand kids there for a while. She would set up a big table with craft stuff for us, and show us the project of the day. Those are some of my best memories.
I bet they will remember it too. Too cool Nice!

Well shoot I can't seem to see any of the pictures, dang cause it sounds wonderful,
    Cindy

NT, those came out great! You certainly are a good teacher because they all turned out very good. Those kids must be sooo proud of this. They can't do that anywhere else.

Wow, they all did pretty well, even 'haphazard' girl. Gotta admit that your 6 yo sounds like me as a kid..... always had to wait and see what others were doing and usually ended up doing something similar to whichever one I liked!

You have given all of the girls a memory they will cherish in years to come. I can imagine the conversations in say 10-12 years as they come across their star safely tucked away in a special box of childhood treasures!

I love all of them!! What a great project!! Honestly I think the Haphazard star is GREAT. I can understand the problems of getting the thinset off of thet tiles. But she achieved the freedom I strive for and can not seem to grasp. I am so happy to see the pictures. You work room is great. Your table set up with all the terasse is a fiest for the eyes. Wish I had been there. You made it look like so much fun.

OH And to see he pansy BB again. Oh and Aw over and over. Wonderful!!!!
