Another Buddha

Still needs cleaning a bit. Wish I could take proper pics, cuz it looks better in person, and of course, when it's sealed, the grout w/look nicer. Have made a start on the head - don't know where it's going from here.

Ahhh, Nice! I'm so obsessed right now, I'm looking at your workshop just as much as your projects!lol!!! Thanks for posting/mosaicing...I'm living vicariously thru you!

Ooh, love that, that earring really sets it off. What a great idea. It looks like its carved out of some stone, very beautiful. But I see 2 buddhas! I got new glasses though.

It's wood, BIANCHI, and the other one, ceramic, I'm just beginning. Your glasses aren't letting you down. Both of these came from TJ Max. This w/make a little vignette if I can find an empty spot in the jungle of stuff.

Very cool plaque! I can't wait to see how the head develops, are those orange gems?

BIANCHI - forgot to tell you that the "earring" is a Christmas ornamet, as well as the finial for the head. NT - the orange are huge glass globs from Michaels, and I've run out and don't know where to go w/the rest of it. Have yellow, so may have to pretend her (I KNOW - he's a boy in reality, but all my stuff is feminine) roots are showing and use the yellow glass. I'm stuck now so may have to go look for something different.

Love your start Slow.the one on the right I have actually started myself but haven't posted beginning because I stopped to do exchange gift and started making more of the exchange gifts for a small show in march.I'm trying to make a lot of small items for that show .He will be out of glass and china plates.I hate to post a picture of him and then do more for a couple of months.Like my headboards ugh! shame on me.

Love the earring, Slow! It's such a great accent piece!

Wow Slow that is so cool. Both of them. Hope you figure out what to use since your out of the globs.

Annie- post pics anyhow...we like to see them in progress even if it takes awhile to finish.

Great Slow!! Like everyone else, I love that earring!!I'm sure you'll come up with something cool for the head!

Wow, slow, you know how to use your Christmas decorations. Its beautiful. So is the finial, love the orange glas globs. I have trouble finding that color. And hey, buddha can be anything you want it to be, male or female. After all, you are the artiist!

These are really creative and wonderful(as usual with your work). Keep those WIP pics coming. What a great idea to display them all together ; that will be awesome.

Well there y'all go again - making me smile! I awoke this morning thinking "now why did I buy those pieces - just more stuff to dust, and no place to put them". FIDDLE, didja HAVE to do that? Ain't goin' there - NO. ANNIE - I considered plate shards for this but didn't get the inspiration. Please post your WIP - these help us, you know. Went looking for the glass globs at Michaels yesterday and **sigh** they were seasonal. I COULD put this aside and hope for restocking them, but nah - it'll be finished in yellow globs and metallic beads, and I can blame the failure on my mood.

So good to see you posting again. Love what you've got going with the buddha trio. You seem to have your groove back!

    Hazie

Yeah, well - the house is a mess and as soon as I grout this Buddha head tomorrow (black grout), I gotta work on it. Need y'all's advice on the ears. Don't know whether to leave them as is or mosaic them and add earrings or.....???? HELP.
    Buddha Update

    Slow!
That is soooo beautiful! I think the ears might need a bauble on the lob... but maybe not too much.
    Da-haanng, I love this piece.
    Wonderful my QUEEN!!!

SLOW! OMG!!!! That is AMAZING! I LOVE her. Boy, I'd say you
REALLY came back strong. LOVE IT! I'd leave the ears, and add earings. Wow!!!!

    Hazie

Wow! That is some fancy Buddha!!! Maybe it's a "Buddhette?" LOL Love it! What kind of glue did you use on this one?

WOW Slow!!! I think they are both great!!! I say add earings too but not do the whole ear. Buddah's wear earrings??

So glad to be blessed with your creations again. Missed you so much!!!

    Chris

Beautiful slow, did you grind down the knobby things under your globs?I'll try to post mine in the morning. It's gonna be kinda kooky tho LOL.Love yours !

Just wonderful! Like everyone is saying...you really got your groove back!

Thanks, y'all. These mindless pieces are an effort to GET my groove back, and I think it's working. And, wouldn't you know it, just as I get anxious to hit the workshop, it's time to clean house for next weekend's company **sigh**. FIDDLE - GE II, and Lordy, I got it ALL OVER EVERYTHING. It'll be a nightmare to clean - hate that stuff. SHADES - thank you for that sweet comment. ALL girls in my world wear earrings. It's an art piece - not to be confused w/anything else. Was it Joy who got criticized at work for decorating her Buddha? Oh, CRACK - now wouldn't that have been smart?!!! No, and they gave me problems - and that's why I was extra messy w/the GE II. They kept sliding off, I'd catch them, and you know the rest. WHY didn't I think to coat the head in thinset?? I'm a slow learner. Anxious to see yours today. Groove back??? Not quite, but getting there. Thanks again, y'all.

O.K. Slow ,heres the one I started some time ago and quit to do some other projects,I won't start on it again for a while ,he's gonna be a "Butterfly man" the butterfly goes across his eyes and down his cheeks,a flower on top of his head, more of a garden Buddha I guess.

Annie! That's Awesome!......gotta find a buddha now girls.

    Hazie

    Slow: Wonderful!!!
    Crackpot: Also Wonderful!!!
    Good Job Ladies!!!

Butterfly Buddha! How original is that? Wayyy cool.

Yep! I'm on a buddha hunt now too!
"Here boody, boody, boody!!" Oh,,,uh,,I might need to rethink my buddha call. ya think?

Y'all crack me UP. CRACK - what a novel idea on the eyes of yours, and I LOVE the garden aspect. I wanted to use plate shards but couldn't come up w/anything. I was too afraid of messing up the face to do anymore to mine. Kinda like parts left natural. Did you build up that portion on top of the head for the butterfly? See - you use glass/shards combined also. Like that. Where did you get yours? I REALLY like it. Well, see what postings do - makes us all want to rush out and do the same. I LOVE this forum. Here's mine almost finished. Still dirty, gotta wash the grout off the face and bath in vinegar. It's still to wet yet. I was just so anxious to see the vignette together. I'm THINKING they w/go better in my bedroom cuz there's an Indian/Middle Eastern thing going on in there. The other shots are in the entry hall that I've made into a "religious art niche. I'm Southern Baptist and my staunch SB friends think I'm bordering on getting struck by lightning cuz I have "graven images" in my house. Ooooooo, shiver shiver. They don't quite get it when I tell them NOT - just art. Have a couple angels and other things to fill that wall but TIME..
    Buddha Almost Finished

Wow the buddha head looks great with all those beads on the head. Those are sure some colorful curtains in that room! I love the garden buddha idea. Now that we are all looking for buddha heads, we won't find any.

Speechless/typless in Illinois......my goodness...Slow you certainly have your groove back and you didn't have to go to Jamacia to get it........you are also the Queen of decorating.............in love with the whole sha-bang!!!!

Slow,it goes in your room so perfect.I don't think anyone dare call you fickle in your religion....THEY might get struck by lightining themselves.I got mine at marshalls 12.99 bought 2 of them...what for?have no idea what I'll do with them.Mine came with that knot on the top of his head.the flowers I bought in Vegas at Home Goods they are ornaments.

Oh Annie......your Buddha is awesome.......so colorful.....I really like the way you have done his eyes.......cannot wait to see this grouted.......now you gals are inspiring me to do one........but I still have my 9 projects to finish.......I do not dare...and I really counted more than 9!!! You're doing a fantastic job is this guy!

Thanks, y'all. I REALLY like how they all turned out, and they w/stay in the b.r. Redecorated the religious art niche. When I start housecleaning, I always re-decorate a bit. On your second Buddha, CRACK - if you have posts in your garden on which you could place them - like an entry to a garden room, arbor finials, posts on your deck/patio, or a bench you could flank w/the pair, they'd look great. Get w/it and finish that one. Looks like it doesn't require much.

Slow, Bella... it's lovely. And I thought your buddha plaque with the glass squares was larger too! You and HRSG have thrown me in a perspective loop!
I like your religious art vinette and the colors in your room. Looks like an inspiring kinda place.

SLOW that is just too cool!!! I love how you decorate!! Did I tell you how cool you are??? You just have such a way with things!!!

I used to have things on my wall (indian stuff) and one neighbor lady started telling people I was a witch!!! So all the sudden I had all these neighbor ladies start wanting to see the inside of my house!! Go figure!! One of my friends who knows this neighbor had to tell me what all the fuss was about. She laughed so hard...I definitely am not a witch I am a NB (Northern Baptist) and if people want to think Im a witch cause I have some indian stuff on my wall let em!!! Just like you...I like what I like and it doesnt make me who I aint!!!!

ANNIE- your Buddha is great, I love how you've done it! Its cool that you have two.

Slow, I just love the glass on Buddah's head! She's a Beaut! The Buddahs look great with your religious art niche.

Slow... love the way your Buddhas turned out!!! Also liked seeing your grouping! The angel is darling! And what is the substrate behind the angel... on the wall? A church front? I don't think I had seen that. REALLY like it! Looks like it's on wood? Great colors on everything! Curtains are beautiful!

Late morning coffee w/my friends. Thanks all. BAMA - the first "square" one is 8X10". CHICKEE - I agree. ROSIE and I are amused when people come to visit us and some just stare at our decor and are speechless. Then there's the friend of mine who came to see my b.r., and couldn't sit still in the l.r. and talk, cuz she kept going back to the b.r. to gape, go crazy and ask if she could bring friends to look. Yeah, I'm weird, but I love my home. My HM wants to put a rubber chicken in the religious art niche. FIDDLE - the substrate is a piece of driftwood from the Great Lakes I bought at a community garage sale. It just looked so church-like. Had I turned it the other way, it could have been pedal pushers. Thanks again, y'all.
