A single width would be skimpy-the double at 100" will look well balanced. Good choice.

So would that be 50 inches of gathered fabric on each side? 50 inches gathered is about 25 inches.

They will look like what they are - placed there to soften and give the appearance of drapes. If it were my room and l liked the drapes, I would give them a try.

I would take into account the width of your rod and the amount of wall space you have for the gathered fabric.

I have 100+" of drape on a slider and when pulled to one side it's a lot of fabric. I'm thinking 50", 25" when gathered, on each side may be what you need.

Decide on the width you want the panels to be when "open" and buy, at the very least, twice that width. If you're not wanting them to look as if they can be closed than a narrower panel can work. Since you're buying ready made I'd go with the double width. I'm sure they'll look very nice.

Thanks for the advice. I have ordered some swatches from Pottery Barn of their Peyton linen look drape. Hopefully one of the colors will work.

I also looked at Country Curtains but didn't see anything that had the linen look that i am seeking. Does anyone know of a good source for drapery panels with that are linen )or look like it?)

Marrilyn, have you thought about having them custom made by a local seamstress? This way you can chose the style and fabric. often getting them for far less than what you'd pay retail if you purchase the fabric on sale. Almost everyone I sew for purchases their fabric during the half off sales.
