NT - yes, I mostly use bowls for molds for the mushroom caps, and bud vases for the stems.

This is what I used for the "portobello" type - picked it up at the thrift store - it's metal and some type of a cap for a light fixture, I think. That's plastic wrap over it (for releasing it).

Chickee - the tallest mushrooms are about 10 inches, and the smaller one is about 7 inches.

I just read your instructions, and they are perfect! Did you say you also did not "unmold" the bud vases, too? I gotta hit up my SA Thrift later and see what they have! And yard-sale season is coming soon! Must put this on my "2008 Yard-Sale Items to look for" list!

Thanks, MM....yes - the bud vases are there under the concrete. I can get them for 25 cents....so just leaving them in there works! We had some discussion recently about pouring the concrete into the bud vase, and then "unmolding" it by breaking the vase - but I haven't tried that yet. Also, on my first ones with the bud vases and the "bowl" mold - I didn't attach the stem to the cap, and didn't feel like I needed to, because they stem and the cap "fit" so well together, but with these other shapes, I did attach them - just turned the cap upside down, placed the concreted bud vase on it, and mooshed some concrete around the top of the bud vase where it met the mushroom cap. Hope that makes sense?

Yup, makes perfect sense. And I just made a quick bank-run, and stopped at the SA Thrift and it was 1/2-off day! I found a BUNCH of different size vases for the project; now I just gotta go back and see what that "thing" was you used for the port-shroom...light fixture I think you said...anyway, this will be a fun project for the new craft room when I get in there!
