I have done some etching but used etching creme on clear glass. I think you can also use some type of sand blasting equipment. So much depends on your pattern and how deep you will be etching. I don't think you will see much using the creme on ceramic. Why not just mosaic a couple accent pieces instead?

I have a friend who did sandblasting until her carpel tunnel got so bad she couldn't. I was thinking of something unique for my back splash accent pieces. I think I'm going to try mosaic.
