I like crystal but I think darker hardware would work better

I think it's the skinny brass frame, too.

Consider painting that frame to go with other metals in that room. I see a silver vase on the table.

Or paint it one of the colors from the painting - a deep teal?

I don't mind the frame, but I think the crystal knobs are wrong with that piece.

I'm thinking I don't like the size of the picture on the wall as it is, but if you put some lamps or other things in front so it becomes part of the grouping, then it may work, brass frame or not. I'd try that first.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will try to photoshop different colors for the frame if I am feeling ambitious.

Annie, do you think the picture is too small? Or too short? I have a pair of monet prints that are a bit taller but with similar colors that I could try there too. I was thinking to put something either green glass or metal on one side but wanted to let the paint cure a bit more first or put on the wax. I also thought of lamps but there is a lot of light in that area already with the 3 bulb fixture above the table and two pendants over the breakfast bar.

The picture is a good size. It needs something to connect it to the buffet.

Candlesticks? A tall vase? Lamps? Right now the buffet is sort of floating off the floor on tall skinny legs, and then the picture is floating above it.

You did a great job with the sideboard! Did you roll or brush the chalk paint....I really want to try this technique one of these days! Agree---change the brass frame.

I will try out a few options later and post pics.

Joanie, I used a roller for everything but the smaller grooves and ridges. I used a recipe I found online. 2.5 tbsp of plaster of paris, 1.5 tbsp cool water and 1 cup flat paint. I mixed the P of P and water until it was well blended and smooth and added the paint. It worked well and went on nicely.

Please explain how what you did would be different to just using the flat paint you bought.

Lyban, I used it because I was having trouble getting good coverage and read that the chalk paint adheres and coats better. I think it did cover well considering how the piece seemed to suck in the paint like a sponge.

I have a large curvy dresser that I have my eye on to try it again. :)
