I am looking for some help designing my home office. I just bought a new desk and bookcase. Other than that, it’s pretty much a blank slate.

The room measures 9’2” wide x 10’ long (from window wall to closet doors). It is currently being used as my study, so it has to be functional. I am not a minimalist, but I want to keep it fairly light and airy, and relaxing. I will not be painting the walls. The carpet looks darker in the photos. It is a sand/beige color.

Here are my thoughts so far:

• I like the current setup of the desk as I wouldn’t want to be back on to the door. Everything else can be moved around, although I like having the bookcase close to the desk because I will be using it almost daily while at my desk.
• I need some type of cabinet/shelving for my printer, paper, etc.
• The walking pad (resting up against the wall) has to stay in the room. It can stay against the wall when not in use, but I need space to put it on the floor and use it. (It is 21" wide x 48" long.)
• The easel can go as I would also need room for my paint supplies if I were to use it for painting in this room, and I don’t think I have that much space.
• I would prefer if the mirror could stay, but it’s not necessary. (It is 25" wide.)
• The bookcase decor can be changed out, but the functional items (books, camera equipment, storage boxes, etc.) need to stay.
• I am a wildlife photographer, and I would like to incorporate a framed photo (or canvas print) or two.
• I plan to add drapes (maybe a white/off-white color?).
• I plan to add a couple of plants (although I’m not sure where yet. Maybe in the corner on the other side of the window).
• Maybe add a lamp somewhere?
• I most likely will change my chair for something less bulky and lighter in color.
