I had followed your earlier thread..your house is just spectacular!! I love how you've mixed in contemporary to your decor. It gives it added interest. Also, it's wonderful to see that you've filled your house with family treasures, which truly makes it a 'home' !!
You've worked really hard, and it shows..I'm sure you must be very proud.

Dining Room - Wonderful new dish and runner! And the carpet is such a treasure!!!

In the dining room's china cabinet with your gorgeous dishes -- do you have the teapot or coffee pot? Might be nice to have the teapot, cream and sugar sitting together on the bottom shelf -- and the covered casserole on the top shelf where it would be a great "focus" piece.

LOVE the items on the Morroccan table and the artwork! Just so right!

Music room: Spread out the dishes in the cabinet to all of the shelves to create visual balance. On top -- I would leave that area clear BUT add two strong artworks on each wall behind it. Or how about hanging some of the striking antique dishes on each wall? OR consider hanging two framed favorite music sheets? And how about an antique metronome for the top of the cabinet? Simple, strong shape -- and really suitable for the room!

On the music room's fireplace mantel -- let the handsome clock stand alone OR simply add two fresh flower arrangements in matching glass or crystal vases on each side when your have parties.

As for the leather chairs -- they really do look great in front of the fireplace -- how about adding an ottoman between them? Maybe covered with simple strong dark blue material? We have an ottoman with wheels -- most handy to roll in front of the fireplace on cooler nights -- and roll away to sit in front of the matching chair. And small tables can usually found in antique shops or malls.

    Hi Caroline!

I am in love with the rug in your piano room! Are those turned wood pieces in the glass-shelved display case in there?

Li'l Bit is ready for me to play with him so quickly I'll just say I love seeing your home and later (naptime) will follow up on your other threads so I can see more.

To get the height on your piano room display cab what about hanging a nice-sized painting up behind there? You'll get your height that way without looking twee by oh-so-carefully arranging something tall up there as well. ???

Your Moroccan tablescape is lovely but I'd love to see something orange or green there as well -- not a big something, but to help everything else there (which is beautifully coordinated) POP! Something else is there but since I don't know the context of the room I'll just shut up now!

    Off to play dinosaur ....

    Beautiful home!

slinkey: after seeing your BEAUTIFUL home and furnishings I can only say...thankyou. You have a wonderful eye for comfortable details that truly say "HOME". You are so kind.

tea: great !! ideas. The top shelf of the cab has old teacups and saucers. Do you mean move some of the plates to the top shelves? I have LOTS of OLD OLD sheet music...I never thought about framing it...I will sort through and do so ...what a great idea. Metronome...why did I not think of this?? OK perfect.

mantle...yes that little picture was there to keep it from getting bumped...I will move it. vases a good idea too I have lots of Momma's crystal to choose from.

Ottoman perfect ! you are a tremendous treasure of ideas! Thank you !

rm thank you...I have two more of the glasses...how did you know this??? One is a dark ruby red and the other is orange....so you got it on the nose ! I will do it :)

You and tea are on the same page....framed music...metronome...as a strong piece. All very doable. THANK YOU SO MUCH..off to implement. c

lovely I have nothing else to add but that you have such a lovely home. Too bad we arent neighbors cause if either of us had a formal dinner party for 24 ( as if!) we could mix our china as they are so similar! My MILs( never met her) Limoges china would blend right in with yours!
love the piano room- do the fireplaces all work in your house? How cozy!

Yes -- move some of the plates (or add a couple more if you have them!) to the top shelf to create a better visual balance of color and pattern.

Clear the top of the cabinet -- OR if you have a single low china bowl that has the same colors as the china -- that might work for now until you can locate a metronome.

A trio of antique metronomes (tall in the middle and shorter ones on each side!) would be just the right decorating "note" (LOL!) in the room. Or a simple single one in the middle! Then the antique music sheets hung on each side wall would look amazing -- and bring the colors and patterns from the rugs and china "up" and onto the upper wall area.

Oh I'm so glad that you already have a collection of music that could be hung around the room! Always nice to be able to use what is on hand or in storage!

rm: I forgot to answer, yes those are turned wooden bowls...I have quite a few of them.

tea: I don't have anymore of that set of dishes...full set for 12 but the serving dishes and platters...no coffee or tea...Replacements has it sometimes...have not checked lately. Might do that. I saw a couple metronomes on e-bay...they are all the standard size...wish I still had mine...it would almost be an antique :)

Sue: you know I wish we DID live close...we see "eye to eye" on so many things I think. Thank you ,...what does your china look like? All 4 FP are all gas Victorian inserts and yes they all work ,except the one in the foyer.

Will post some pics of the music before framing...later...c

You and DH have been quite busy this wkend. Hope you made a Sazerac and enjoyed your efforts. The results are splendid!

Love all the changes except the top of the music room cabinet. Agree with teacats that the top looks cluttery, but a metronome or 3 will be terrific. Any kind of strong, darker item(s) that makes a statement will be great. You can try the bowls that had been on the Moroccan until you find what you like. Even a blank top with art on the walls will be wonderful.

Love the secretary in the foyer again. In the older post, the DR hutch seemed too heavy and large to the left of the doorway but would look great angled. Post more pix please.

Thank you for posting your photos - such lovely things! The rug is gorgeous.

Have you considered moving the large glass lamp to the top of the corner cupboard in the piano room? It would bring in some height and goes well with the colorful dishes inside. (I'm in earthquake country and seeing a glass lamp on a little table makes me queasy!)
