There's a lot of information missing here.

Other than sofas, do you have any furniture? What style/look are you going for? Is that house similar as in - you have the same floorplan?

It will be easier if we can actually see your space. Even a floorplan will help.

Thank you for the response I will try to give more info. That house is pretty much the same house expect we won't have the basement finished and will have some small differences. Our countertops will be laminate jamocha granite, and the beadboard on the island will be BM dragon's breath. Otherwise that will be what our house looks like. We have the sofas and a chair 1/2 in the same material. What ever does not fit will just be put down stairs. We have a light oak dining room table which we are thinking about painting black and thinking about getting a black tv stand. We have moved so much that we have never really bothered to decorate. We pretty much are starting from scratch. Thanks again and let me know if you need any other info. I am clueless.

From what I see, you are working with tan walls and olive furniture?

I wouldn't paint anything until after you have moved in and you see how the light (natural and indoor) plays in the rooms.

What color is your cabinets? What color is your carpet? What color is your DR and Kitchen flooring? The pictures don't really tell it all.

Please post some pictures once you are in and have the furniture in place. The group here offers wonderful advice when they see actual pics.

I agree with what calirose told you. Sit in your house for a while maybe with early relative furniture just to get a feel of the light. Olive and black are really, really boring drab colors in my book and if your carpet is a dark neutral and you pick all these drab colors, your whole house will seem dark and gloomy. Not the way to start a new house. Pick out pics in magazines as inspiration. You might surprise yourself.

I agree with the previous posters. Live in your house a while and see how it feels, and how the colors of your furniture and walls work together. Pick up a few dec. magazines, watch a few dec shows, and see what you like. You are starting with some good basics ( wall color, and furniture, etc.) so it will be easy to add accessories later on. Once you have found what style you like, the folks here will be happy to make suggestions. They are great!

I agree with moving in and letting the house speak to you about the decor, take your time and don't try to force the decor. I like Olive & Black & Tan and since you are just starting out, that will be a good base. You will be able to determine what accent colors you like once you are in your home.

Yellows and browns look good with your color scheme.

A raspberry or cranberry accent color would look great.

    Lampshade.

Do you have a Home Goods store by you...they have great decorating accents at decent prices?
