Stove in corner anyone?

Does anyone have their range in a corner of the kitchen? I'd love to see pictures and hear how you like it.

Thanks!

Don't have one, but thought I'd mention that a frined of mine hates her corner sink because it is so hard to clean behind it. A stove could present more of a cleaning issue if you leave the corner open behind it.

I think I have seen a photo or two here, but I can't think of who had them.

I have my cook top and oven installed beneath it in the corner; pictures are in the kitchen blog.

Take a peek at Sharb's kitchen. To avoid the cleaning problem that Lascatx described, I think it's key to put an angled wall behind the range like Sharb did.

my MIL has had her range in the corner for about 30 years, luckily she does all of the cooking in her house, because everyone but her HATES it for a multitude of reasons including the inevitable grease and dirt that gets in the corner behind it and is very hard to get to to clean.

salbwil--Thanks, I love the look of that, it's a great idea to have the wall angled behind it to avoid the cleaning problems mentioned.

lynw--I'd love to see pics when you're done.

alku05--Thanks for linking to Sharb's kitchen. It's beautiful, and yep again the angled wall to match the angle of the stove.

I'm going to have to explore this option...it might be able to solve my range placement issues and my dislike for corner cabinets in one shot! I liked the idea of using the corner behind it to keep cooking utensils, but hanging them on the backsplash would work just as well.

FROM A K.D. A 30" RANGE IN THE CORNER IS FINE, IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. 1. A 3/4" PLYWOOD PANEL 32" WIDE FROM FLOOR TO CEILING IS INSTALLED. 2. THE RANGE WILL SIT FLUSH AGAINST THIS PANEL, and allow for a countertop overhang on each side. 3. A 3/4" RANGE SIDE PANEL IS INSTALLED ON EITHER SIDE OF THE RANGE. THIS PANEL SHOULD BE 36" AND CUT TO FIT ON SITE. THE RANGE IS NOW SLIGHTLY SET-BACK AND FLOOR SPACE IS SAVED. IT IS A VERY NICE LOOK. A MICRO/WALL CABINETS,HOOD ETC. ARE INSTALLED IN THE SAME MANNER, WITH THE EXCEPTION THAT THE SIDE PANELS FOR THE WALL CABINETS ARE NOT AS DEEP. YOU CAN ALSO CALCULATE EXACTLY HOW MUCH SPACE YOU HAVE USED IN THE CORNER, SO YOU CAN ORDER THE REST OF THE ABUTTING CABINETRY. DW has her cooktop in the corner but we angled the corner. And we got an unexpected benefit. It allowed us to install longer drawers (30") in the cabinet under the cooktop, great for accommodating long-handled pans.
