Aren't there granites that come in larger slabs that would offer you a pattern that appeals to you?

6'x7' is not an unreasonable size for a one piece granite island, unless you had your heart set on a material that does not come in large slabs - like Blue Louise, for instance. Keep looking. Ask the stone supplier or granite company you are using which exotic materials would be large enough for your island and pick from those. It might not be the color you had originally wanted, but you might like the compromise even better - you just never know.
I just recently fabricated a Gold & Silver kitchen from slabs that would have been big enough to do a 6'x7' island :)
A note of caution on your Black Absolute, though - make sure it is the good kind of Black Absolute (a dolerite/basalt). There has been many impostors out there and a lot of granite people will not fabricate that material any more because of some bad etching and issues with dyes on the impostor slabs. Ask your fabricator if they acid tested the stone to confirm the quality.
