Hello!

OK, my Sumi-E tiles are installed, I love the way it looks...BUT there are SOOOO many tiles with cracks in the glass. I realize they are handmade, and that's part of the "charm"... but I'm wondering if other people have experienced this, or did my installer sabotage me??! LOL!! When I initally inspected the tiles, I did see some cracks, but now, it just seems like they are everywhere. Do you have a significant number of tiles with cracks within the glass?? Are my tiles defective? Or do they all look this way???

Hello!

I have a fair amount of crackling, but not CRACKING, if that makes sense. I'm guessing you're seeing the former which is normal for the tile, I think. To be honest, I don't really notice them, but if I were to really look for them, I bet I'd find tons, LOL. How many "cracks" you see may also depend on how well the installer cleaned off the grout, too.

Here's a shot behind the rangetop. You can see the cracks here or there, but I wouldn't say it's a predominant feature.

Hi Mom2Reese!

Thanks for showing me the pictures of the chuzenji- that's exactly what my tile looks like...Whew! I was worried that maybe the installer was cracking them as he put them in- he wasn't exactly happy with me giving him all of my gardenweb knowledge! LOL!! Most of which he didn't follow anyway!
I am so close to posting. I just need to get some bar stools and maybe some decorations...so far, its looking pretty good though.
