Glass Pulls/Knobs

Please tell me your opinions on what to do with glass pulls versus knobs. I just love these coke bottle green pieces. I was thinking knobs on the doors and pulls on the drawers, but maybe it would be a cleaner look for all pulls?? You tell me what you think.

The knob that I'm considering is 1-1/2 in diameter.

The pull is a 3" center piece with 1-1/4 diameter ends.

Also - do I put 2 pulls on the wide & deep drawers (36" wide) set to go under the cooktop? What about the ones to the right of the dishwasher? (width 29")

Please tell me anything else that I may be forgetting in my considerations! Thanks so much!!

I'm posting some pics.

There's also some drawer's here in the Breakfast room in the bench seating. These drawers are about 24" wide.

What color are your cabs going to be?
    What color counters and backsplash?

I personally like the knobs on the upper and lower cabs and pulls on the drawers. I was told 2 pulls/drawer if 30" or wider. It's really what looks good to you. I have seen all combinations.

Your kitchen looks like it's going to be really nice.
    Won't be long now!!

Your kitchen is going to be beautiful. I have those same knobs and pulls in the jadite milk glass in my white kitchen and they look great with my pale green counter tops. I had the hardware before I moved into my new house (purchased for my previous house that had a kitchen reno), so I went with what I had. The screws were too long and I had to have a specialist cut them down for me and my handyman installed them.

I have handles on all the cupboards (upper and lower) and knobs on all the drawers. To keep it consistent, even on my wide big drawers I have knobs (2 of them one on each side). It looks uniform and everyone really likes them.

They are beautiful hardware...I love mine. Plus I have a collection of jadite FireKing diner ware in my glass front cabinets and they match really well.

You should buy a set and try them on a cabinet finished like yours are going to be...I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I love the knobs. And do not think you need more than one per drawer/centered. I have a bunch of 36" drawers with one knob and they open easily, fully loaded. And it's really nice not to have to use two hands to open a drawer!

Cabs will most likely be BM Pompeii with a light to medium brown glaze.

Counters are definetely Chocolate Brown granite in a Leather finish.

Backsplash are subway Classica Cream colored tiles, with Tabarka accent tiles above cooktop.

I'm reposting a link to an older post of mine with colors. I changed some of the colors now for the walls.

Kitchen is now BM Suntan Yellow.
Entry/Dining/Powder Bath is now BM Soft Pumpkin.
    Floors are Red Mahoghany.

    Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Hmmm... I don't know. I love the coke bottle green glass. I have used green glass all over my kitchen just as vintage decorative pieces (and I have clear glass knobs). But with BM pompeii (am I seeing yellow in that cream color?) cabinets with a brown glaze, brown counters, yellow walls and red mahoghany floors, I'm just not sure about the green knobs and pulls. You have a lot of doors and drawers there. It might be fine, since you've got pumpkin walls in the dining area as another color contrast. If you have green glass accents here and there throughout both rooms, it might all work together. Most of the time you see the green glass with kind of a 1920's-30's vintage look kitchen, with white-white and black and even red accents. Just because that's the common use, doesn't mean yours won't work with the green glass. I hope some of the champ decorators here chime in. I'd love to hear what they think.

FWIW, I'd use the knobs on cab doors and the handles on drawers (using 2 on those over about 30 inches). Get a sample of both the knob and pull and see how it looks with your other color samples.

Can't wait to see your finished kitchen. Your home looks really interesting. I love the arches. Is it old?

Kimkitchy - the house is built to resemble an old house, but it is new. We're aiming for the Spanish Revival look with color. Maybe my color scheme is throwing you off a little. You might also see my breakfast room chandy and the mosaic tile for the fireplace in the living room. I'm hoping some of those pieces will tie everything in.

Have you given the hardware a try? I find that I am put off by pulls that don't hump out so as to admit my fingers sufficiently. A kitchen needs to accommodate large as well as small hands in order to not subtly exclude people.

There is a flat handle version, but you have the convex handle, which is what I have and I find them very easy to slip my fingers under to pull open the cabinet door.

I agree that having to open the drawers with 2 hands versus one takes more thought, but I think it is kinder on the slides. My drawers are 39 inches wide and fairly deep, I have them loaded especially my spice drawer, so the 2 knobs feel right since they are not really big knobs.

Sounds like you have a specific colors chosen and if they feel good for you...keep them, I love the vintage look.

Oh, duh! I didn't read your old post link, I just looked up your cabinet and wall colors. Now I get it! Love the Spanish Revival look. Your color choices are great for that! And, again, FWIW, I'd do both knobs and pulls. Can't wait to see your finished kitchen!
