Wow... cool ideas! I really like your deck pillars!

The only granite scrap I got to keep was the cutout for my cooktop. Its a piece about 21x19 inches. I was thinking about making a lazy susan or a large "trivet" for setting hot casserole dishes on. Would be pretty heavy to lug around though :)

I think we are going to use ours for a fireplace facing and hearth. Not exactly the colors I would have chosen for that, but the granite is beautiful, and the current brick is nasty looking.

I love the repurpose on the deck, really neat and oh so dressy for a deck. Looks great.

Great ideas! I especially love the deck pillars with the 'natural' edge, great job! I think we are going to use the left over granite to redo our powder room bathroom and use a clear glass vessel sink. But that is so far down the road, have to finish the kitchen 1st! Good luck!

Does the fabricator typically charge a flat fee for making a scrap into something else? I can't think of any obvious uses for the scraps that I'll have, but if it were cheap, maybe a little table top...?

I too am looking to see if I have enough left over for my fireplace. I should know by the end of next week. I hope so, otherwise it will be made into a small patio table.

Ours charged a little extra for the fabricating of one of our scraps into a piece in the window between the kitchen and the family room, but not for the piece itself. The only other scrap we had was the cutout for the sink, and we didn't ask for that.

The only granite I'll be using in my new kitchen is to top a fairly small island/baking area. I don't think I'll have leftovers. But I plan to inquire if there is a small bit available at the shop to use as a base for one of my 19th century sewing machines.

We had enough to make a table top as well as some shelves.
