I think there is one through Lowes.com also you can try Google Sketch Up.

IKEA also has a free design tool which you can download. It's limited, but easy.

I used a drawing program because I had precision control (tried to learn Sketch-Up, but the learning curve and my patience weren't a good fit). For me, also a visual learner, the layout was key. I didn't need elevations because I was able to visualize them well without drawing it out.

The best software isn't free, but might be worth the money. One of the titles is Chief Architect. I can't remember the other names. You can often get a previous version as shovelware (i.e., cheap). These have a lot of pre-programmed shapes and textures, and let you easily click between floorplan and 3D view.

Are you talking about software to show you what your kitchen layout would look like in 2D? Or are you talking about a tool to tell you how to layout your kitchen to make it functional?

If the first, are you willing to pay for software? Chief Architect seems like a good one. I tried Sketch up, bit didn't have the patience at the time for the learning curve and lack of clear direction.

Plllog and I were posting at the same time!

I'm definitely wiling to pay. I'll look into Chief Architect and some of the others listed. Thanks!

Sketch Up is free to download so you could start there.

I purchased the Chief Architect and love it.

You can learn sketchup quite quickly (at least I did) from watching the first three videos on the page below.
