Hardware questions

I thought I should pop back in and let everyone know that the floor is down, perimeter cabinets hung, island cabinets are in progress, and there are 5 different paint colors on the walls. I will decide at some point...I think. So anyways, I've been shopping for cabinet pulls and I'm not sure what I should be looking for. I found one pull at Menards that feels very nice (pictured), has plenty of room for fingers, but the look isn't that thrilling to me. But I do like the simplicity of it. I'm looking for something that won't stand out against the cabinets and I don't want anything too large. I'm thinking around 5". I'll be doing all pulls, just because knobs kill my fingers (past injury), and all the same size, because I like things to match. Could anyone lead me in the right direction here? I'm not set on or against any finishes, just that I don't want to pay a ton (think cheap). And sorry for the ginormous picture, but I can't get into flickr for some reason.

It's simple and it's fine though I do prefer something a tiny bit thicker. Maybe if the front had a flatter surface it would make a difference. have you tried a website like hardware hut, knobsandhardware, overstock, or bellacor? Bellacor is kinda fun to cyber shop because they have all sorts of filters that will allow you specify what you want. It may help to broaden some of your choices while inputting cost constraints.

    It's simple and beautiful.

I'm hunting one I saw (somewhere) that had this same style, but the bar to pull was more delicate. I think it was more antiquey.

    Look.
Hardware is like everything else. You have to have an Ah HA! moment. In the meanwhile, don't be rushed into it more than anything else. Blue painters tape makes a great handle until you find your love.

Keep looking. This style is common. It's the lines of it that speak to someone. How it's attached to the cabinet.
    Do some looking. Don't settle.

I've been browsing online, but am drawn to all the fancier and more decorative ones, but when I touch one like that in the store, I don't care for them. So my eyes are leading me to form over function. I don't want to not like the looks, but I also have to keep them clean and be able to grab them easily.

Thinking cheap, you must check out gliderite.com. I do not work for them but I was super thrilled at them as a vendor. Their pulls run around 1.50 each and they carry tons of different styles.

I can totally do $1.50 a piece! But the thought of spending $5+ made me dizzy. We went to the ReStore, but didn't find anything for the kitchen, but they had a sale on doors and I brought 3 antique doors home that match the original doors in the house. $5 each.

mrsmm: If you're going shopping for pulls and want someone to go with you to help decide, snap cell phone pictures and post here. Before you leave the store, you'll get input. GWers LOVE making decisions!

We got ours in a multi pack from Home Depot for $15 for 10. I don't see exactly what we got, but these are similar except we got the ORB finish to go with our cabinets. Might be worthwhile to look there.
