Your counters will be an inch higher, but no big deal. I have 3 cm silestone and 3" cherry . both look ok and I don't notice the differencr in height.

Firsthouse, your granite is beautiful! I am now considering a mitered edge also. I noticed that your island prep sink is not installed below the 2 1/4" countertop. How does this work? I am ordering undermount sinks. Do I specify a special installation or must I order a special model/make sink?

How big is your island? What is the wood/stain for your floors? Who made your cabinets? I am looking for the same modern farmhouse aesthetic. Your kitchen shows great attention to detail.

I don't have granite, but do have 2 1/4 edges on all my perimeter counters and 3 1/4 or 3 1/2 on the island. I love them, as I prefer the hefty, beefy appearance, too.

Thick counter edges are gorgeous.

Thank you for this useful thread! I found myself committed to 2 inch mitred edge and was worried that even that was going to be too thick. All countertops here are beautiful so I’m thrilled to even approximate:) hoping to go with a dark granite for this, leathered, blackish)
