Invisible support for cantilevered stone countertop question

We are remodeling our kitchen and want to have a continuous 47-1/2" wide countertop that includes a breakfast bar that will cantilever 18" out from a pony wall. What is the best method of invisible support for the 18" cantilevered section? I saw a post from StoneGirl referring to a technique called "rodding" with a rectangular flat steel bar - i.e. (1/4"x1/2") imbedded (on end) in the stone with epoxy. I am assuming this technique is used on minimum 1-1/4" thick stone countertop. Does anyone know if this method of "rodding" will work with a 1-1/4" thick stone countertop cantilevering 18"? See illustration below showing our design.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and consider my question.
