So OVER it...

Or so READY to be OVER it.

Call it the 12-month build fatigue. Call it wishing that we could teleport everything in our house via Scotty rather than moving truck. I thought about contacting George Lucas to see if I could borrow one of those cryogenic freeze machines from Return of the Jedi to stick the kids in until we're done packing and unpacking.

But tonight I tried to order the trim kit for our microwave. I went to the kitchen, opened up the microwave, read the serial number and returned to Google. There were two options, 27" or 30". Messaged the husband to measure the cabinet hole. Guess what? It's neither.

I give up. I don't even have the brain power to figure out if it matters or not. I think I'll just use the hole to bury my head in. Stick a fork in me folks.

If you get down, look at pix of your new kitchen and that is sure to make you smile! We are past the one year mark of turning our plans into action and tomorrow we meet with the lawyer about suing the gc so that we can get things finished..... It could be worse....

There's a company called microtrim that makes custom trim kits. I think they're at www.microtrim.com

Oh no dianalo... I'm so so so very sorry! We can relate to that too, unfortunately. It didn't get to lawsuit stage, but his men now work for us directly.

Maybe I'll use it as a suggestion box. Or a tip jar.

Good luck tomorrow - I hope there is a swift resolution in sight.

    LOL !!

My girlfriend had a martini/cosmo kit in mini fridge during the remodel..plastic martini glass, small jar of olives, grey goose, tripsec, cranberry juice.. she said the evening discussions with DH on soapstone vs. granite went much better :)

What size is your opening--height, width AND depth?

We are just working on this ourselves and were given the same options. Apparently the 30" trim kit is used when the microwave is paired with a wall oven which must have a 30" trim kit so they'll match.

Not to make your problems worse, but read the info in the instruction sheets that come with the trim kit. Unlike what the microwave, its specs and the trim kit's specs online said, we were surprised that they wanted an additional two inches of depth in the cabinet for our particular oven and kit. The Sears salesman had spent a lot of time with me researching it. I was very surprised this wasn't posted anywhere.

trim kits aren't usually meant to cover a specific hole size. Buy the trim kit that fits the size you want the micro to finish out at and buy it. Is is going above a 27" or 30" oven? As long as it covers the hole and fits around the micro you should have no problem. It will sit flush to the cabinet and conceal whatever space is left.

Robbcs3 - it goes over a 30" wall oven. The opening itself is 28.5" and the Cabinet is 31.5. So you're saying there may not be an issue? Glory be!

Colorfast - depth is going to be counter depth... crap I can't remember even now if that's 24 or 30. But it's even with the built-in refrigerators so I can't imagine we wouldn't be safe there.

Lalitha and Blfenton - OH I WISH! I'm 18 wks pregnant... what I wouldn't give for a nice bender :)

weissman - thank you for that link, good to know that's an option if things are as hairy as they first appeared!

I don't see an issue with anything you have mentioned. Get the 30" trim kit, and cheer up!
