Yes, we actually specifically looked for the smooth white vs. the "bumpy" white (DH was vehemently opposed to that)---just thought the look was cleaner overall, and we're putting it in a vintage kitchen so it was nice to echo our old stove, which has a smooth white finish. I have no idea if it will show fingerprints, though. We don't have it yet, though, so can't say how easy it will be to keep clean.

If you want bumpy, though, we did see lots...easily half of the bottom freezer fridges we looked at were still that style. I'm blanking on which brands, but possibly GE, Whirlpool, maybe Frigidaire? A trip to Lowe's or another store with a lot of stock would probably help sort them out!

I have a smooth front black fridge. And yes, it does tend to show fingerprints & smudges. But I don't actually find it to be a problem.

Firstly, no little kids in the house so the adults (me, DH, college age kids who are normally only home for a few weeks at a time) are relatively neat.

Secondly, they wipe right off. I mean, no real elbow grease is involved.

I much prefer the look of the smooth over the textured.

I have a smooth front bisque side by side. I love it, doesn't show any smudges really and cleans up with just a wipe of a microfiber cloth

We had a smooth white one and it showed every little ding. From kids and moving--it just wasn't durable at all. I don't seem to remember my mom's "bumpy" fridge looking like that when we were growing up. And with 4 kids in the house, I'm sure there were bumps.

We have the smooth white one, and I love it! It doesn't show every little smudge like my stainless appliances tend to, though when the light hits it just right you may see smudges. It's easy to wipe clean. The only thing I keep wiping is the handles, but that is because I live with some major oinkers.

I also have a smooth white french door. I love it. You don't see any finger prints...and smudges wipe clean very easily. Not only did I not like the look of the "orange peel" white/black fridges, it became very difficult to clean them because water stains/stuff would inevitably get into the bumps.

I also have an old house, and thought this would go more with the "vintage" vibe. I am considering changing out the handles to stainless, though, just to jazz it up a bit.

I have smooth black and I really like it. Yes, it needs wiping off, but a damp microfiber cloth is all I really need and my kitchen is what I call a war zone--some days fifteen people in and out.

I have a white smooth front Kenmore range with finely pebbled handles. Not difficult to keep the smooth part clean if it gets dirty, but the blinkin' handles can be difficult to clean. Scrub brush and ammonia are needed, esp. after DH has done some auto mechanic activity.

It was plugged in in garage during remodel and we had no place to wash hands nearby, so it was used by very dirty people. When we brought in into new kitchen from its garage furlough, I really had to work at some old and new stains, but am proud to say that a half hour and some elbow grease has done wonders.

Hlove, I was going to get stainless handles to marry it with my stainless appliances. I think I looked at the price tag for just one handle and said, "maybe not". I would need 3, as I have the french door "trio", as it is called.

Maybe someday....

Thanks everyone for your replies! I guess I will stop worrying about it. After I'd made this "huge" decision I went to get something out of our ancient overflow frig, and realized it has a smooth front. So back in the day, frig fronts were smooth...and then they went to bumpy...and now they've gone back to smooth. I suppose by the time we need another one, they'll be back to bumpy again.

I was going to say that I love mine. And really, I do. I hate the bumpy texture.

But after only 2 weeks we have....*gasp*....a tiny DENT!

I have appreciated my aging pebble- surface, cream- colored refrigerator. I am just beginning to scope out a replacement for when that becomes necessary. I now wonder if they are even still using pebble finish. I sure hope so.

WHY WHY WHY,,,,,,, I CAN NOT FIND A TEXTURED BLACK REFRIGERATOR ....I HAVE LOOKED AND LOOKED......

I bought a new a new smooth black fridge last year. I would have preferred the texture but everything I looked at was smooth. Yes it shows everything but easier to keep looking good than stainless IMO. It does seem to scratch easily. I've had two new doors due to installation/service people scratching them. Someone also slid a magnet down the front for a scratch. Fortunately the service person managed to put a big scratch in that door when they came out to adjust the fridge for vibration so I currently have two scratch free doors.....for now.

I think black shows fingerprints and smears much more than white.

We just got a second fridge and keep it in the garage. We ordered it in black because it was the cheaper model and we were going to keep it in the garage anyway. I was surprised to see that it had a smooth paint finish. I prefer the textured surface, it hides so much more. The installers were careful, but the fingerprints,,,,ugg! We had ordered the fridge online, sight unseen. The manufacturer (not the online store) had to call us twice to delay delivery to us. We had a total of 6 weeks wait time and we were not happy campers. They said it was because of high demand and they hadn't built enough of them. Because of this I actually thought they may have rushed the paint job and forgot a step or two in the process. Hah! Now I know better. Thanks for sharing. Buyers, be aware!

My parents have a textured white fridge. The texture was worn down by fridge magnets and then subsequent cleaning lead to rust stains. I think textured was really developed to give ultra thin metal material some added strength. Less finger prints were a bonus.

I hate the new smooth surface doors! Bring back textured surfaces. They always look good and do not need the constant wiping away of fingerprints and smudges. And those little dings show on every smooth surface fridge I have seen. I have friends who cover their dings with flat refrigerator magnets. How many of those do you think you can make look like company logos?? Everything is such crap these days... just to get people to constantly buy another one. Same with the furniture that doesn't have flappable cushions. What a disaster!

I hate the shiny stainless finishes as I have to clean them about three times a day! I preferred the old "pebble finish" as it did hide ALL fingerprints. I think some manufacturers make a top freezer frig (which no one wants now) that comes in a pebble finish.
