    Hi judyg!

Olldbobbi's DH took her shopping for new clothes today. She did not start a new thread. Threw us all off kilter, as she is the "designated" thread starter for OLLD. I'm happy you started!

Olldbobbi posted to 12/8 to say she would catch up with us on Monday.

What have you been up to today?

I have been looking at posts on "Other" that have had no responses. I went all the way back to last January! Mostly I asked if the folks had found a solution to their problem or an answer to their question and directed them to repost with photos in the Design Dilemma section.

Olldbobbi is an EXTREME early bird and usually has a daily thread started by 7:00am EST. If for some reason she's unavailable for the day perhaps we can agree that anyone can open a new discussion after 9:00 am EST. Most of us are houzzing and enjoying a cup of coffee by that time:) Just watched Doomsday Preppers for the first time last night and have an insatiable urge to go out and buy rice.

Gosh, you are good eztia, I did get an email about someone wanting an outdoor cat area you had asked the question. I sent her a link to some designs, although they are Aussie, I'm sure she could have got some ideas from it to have someone build. Gets a bit frustrating at times when people don't acknowledge, you are just never sure and it is nice to see a conclusion.

I often stay up late to have a late night/early morning chat with Bobbi, that way I am also on the thread for the new day so I wake up to the emails, but I was so tired yesterday I had an early night for a change.

Michi, sounds like a good idea to me, lets not leave it all on Bobbi's shoulders. Does that Doomsday Preppers have anything to do with the Mayans?
@michi. I agree that if olldbobbi hasn't started a thread by 9 a.m. EST, that anyone on OLLD can open for the day.
Olldroo, I'm sure the Mayan calendar may be a part of it, but the folks on the TV show have different motivations...a super volcano eruption in Yellowstone, pandemics, famine as a result of climate change, anarchy...a laundry list of unpleasant scenarios.

I had my carpet professionally cleaned on Friday. It looks like I have almost new carpet (it is 12 years old)! The company I hired had a new kind of machine. Extremely good extraction.

I went to the home supply store and bought some clear plastic runner with little "teeth" on the bottom to help keep it in place. I plan to put it in the hallway that gets so much foot traffic. Have any of you had experience with this kind of runner?

I also made "shoe stations" by the outside doors for taking off outdoor shoes and putting on slippers or "spa" socks. I found the socks on sale at the pharmacy today - lucky me.

Eztia, after having 5 dogs in my home for the weekend I definitely have need of a carpet cleaner.
Michi - in other words every reason NOT to get out of bed each day.
Eztia, I brought that type of runner many moons ago for the part of the carpeted hallway that went to the bathroom as it got the most traffic. My carpet was pure wool and was a mix of loop and cut pile and it really rubbed it up. I decided a bit of dirt I could easily clean was preferable. I just used to use a spray foam cleaner that vacuumed up whenever that area started to look dull. My carpet was a colour called arctic green - an off white just into green shade.

Give it a go, just be watchful.
@roo. Thanks for the advice. My carpet is cut pile, apartment grade (inexpensive). I hope the runner works for my space. I will keep you posted.

Hi All, we used to have the plastic runner in the hallway when I was a teen. Every now and then someone would intentionally flip it over....(usually me) to get back at one of five siblings, all pranksters of course. It's very therapeutic you know, especially in the middle of the night when someones heading to the can. I can still hear my whiney sister screaming. *L*

Michi - I'll drink to that!

olldcan - I hope your ice wreaths melt!!!!!

etzia, I went with the clear idea, plate from Heavens to Betsy and a wider bowl that didn't dump the treats. It looked really nice, squares, rumballs, cookies, tarts, etc. The hostess loved it, as did all the other gals. The cocktail party was nice, we always leave by 9pm. I sure hope people aren't offended that we leave early but that's just a rule we have adopted with employees and liquor.

olldroo -29c here this morning, fresh, crisp, christmas card like.... okay it was friggen freezing. Lit the fireplace and had that going all day. Finished decorating for Christmas. The middle child and his gf stopped in for a visit, that was nice. Both of them work so much it's nice to see them trying to get ahead at a young age.

No chance of that olldroo, mother nature is watching out for me. I have 3 left, one on the gate, one out the kitchen window and one by the front door. Two are with greenery, cranberries, oranges and pine cones. One is old christmas balls and ribbon, kinda cool.

olldcan - That was meant to be some bad karma - sounds like your childhood was very eventful.

I thought our summer might have migrated. Back in winter clothes today again and about 1 deg off putting a heater on.

Hey is anyone having problems with Houzz? I just got notification of a post Lisa put on yesterday's thread 21 hours ago and olldcan's post from 5 hours ago. This has been going on all day.
Hi all! roo, I've been having Houzz issues for weeks now! Late notifications, notifications where the comments mysteriously disappear, and the latest is the screen moving from side to side. It's making me dizzy!

olldcan, -29C is cold. That's insane! I wonder what that is in 'F', maybe about 0 degrees? Is this normal for your area, or colder than usual?

Ok, one more time.....ANYIONE can open a new thread !!! It really doesn't have to be me, it should be the first person awake and aware for the day, ok?
Hello ladies. Do you get notifications if someone posts something then deletes it? I sometimes delete things after I post if I decide I didn't like it.
I don't get notifications, except in the Feed section on my personal Houzz page. I didn't check any of the e-mail notification boxes because I didn't want the clutter.
feeny, that's a good idea. Last night I had 139 emails!
Lisa, yes I have had notifications of posts that I know have been deleted but I am also getting a lot of emails and the posts aren't there but don't know if they have been deleted or what. Bit strange when an email comes through immediately when one is deleted but others take 21 hours. I just had 17 emails then and all except the ones here were old. I also note I hardly get any notification of 'likes' anymore.

Bobbi, I haven't had the screen moving side to side ...............um ..........what do you put in your coffee??? teehee.

-29C is -20 F, which sounds a little weird + 29 is 84 F - probably the minus throws it out. That is what Google says.

Might email Emily. What is the email again please Bobbi?

I also noted earlier someone had put a thread on requesting people email her and there were about 5 or 6 threads exactly the same. Almost sounded like a good time girl.

Ooops, nearly forgot, how did the shopping go Bobbi?
roo, are you talking about Mary? I saw that too! I reported it to Houzz but they won't open for another 3 hours.

Shopping was fun and tiring, thanks for asking! Emily's email is Emily@houzz.com.

    How's the painting coming along?
Yes, bobbi, it was Mary. Not worried about when they open, I will be asleep anyway and they might have something by the time I wake up.

Painting I did on Sunday took longer than I hoped but now down to 2 last areas I'm not happy with. Not a lot to do but today was really overcast and raining (and damned cold) so the light wasn't good enough. I won't paint with light on, too many shadows. Did quite a bit of sewing instead so curtains moving along nicely. Hope tomorrow (or today now) will not be as overcast and I can finish.

Bathroom moved along well today. Had a few hiccups with the tiling but the tiler was really good and things came out better than I expected. Hopefully it will be finished by Friday so all should go smoothly having the carpet laid. House is even colder with no carpet or curtains.

Isn't it awful when shopping that used to be such fun is now tiring.

Will drop Emily a quick line and hit the sack. Hooroo till later.

Have a good night, roo, and get some rest. You've earned it!
Thanks Bobbi, email to Emily done. I feel I am on automatic pilot at the moment.
    Go to bed!!!
I emailed Emily and never received a response.

I am going to do what feeny suggests as my in-box gets overloaded.
judy, what did you email Emily about? I lost track of this thread, was it Mary? I emailed support at houzz.com for that one and they replied with taking care of it. Emily doesn't usually respond, I think she gets more email than we do.
