I just admiring your dining room & kitchen in another post. Your FR is very inviting. The red accents on the mantle, chair and pillows tie in nicely with the new DR color. Did your DH do this trim as well? Looks great! I wish my house was half as put together as yours.

You're unhappy with the red multi-colored rug? FWIW, I thought it looked nice in your other post which gave us a better view of it.

WOW SCANMIKE, it look awesome! Well worth the work, wouldn't you say? What does DH say? ;o)

The area rug in the dining rug is more burgundy. It's okay for now till I find something else. I am planning on painting the green Tobacco Road tmr. The house is 100 years old so the molding was there. The reason the dining room didn't have any was that there was a leak when the previous owners owned the house and they did the bare minimum to repair it.
Thanks for the compliments but I feel everyone else's home is so put together compared ot mine.

It is very pretty! I love the color.

    Thanks Patty Cakes,

Now that we had rest, it was well worth the effort. He loves it, can you believe that. After all the grief he gave me. He could have eliminted my stress last week. Then again, he could have trusted me 7 years ago when I wanted to paint it then.
BoysRus..I forgot. He also did the mantle in the living room as well as opening the archways to the right into the sunroom. We only cut 3/4 open cause I didn't want to screw up the floors. It really opened up the house. We wanted to do that with the dining room, but there's only so much renovation you can put yourself through. I also wanted to paint the wood trim(windows, crown moldilng) in the sunroom white to match the rest of the house, but my husband has this thing about paiting good wood. It's against his principles or something. I can only complain so much, since he does all the work.

    Oh yeah,

What type of WT should I put both in the dining room and living room. Hopefully, I will have new photos of the living room and sunroom painted by next week.
As you can see the living room windows are short and therefore the only light we get is from the sunroom.

You know...looking at the photo I can see some missed spots. Looks like 3rd coat or at least major touchups tmr. Doesn't show that in person (none has noticed it in person) so the lighting could be making it look worse. It's been gloomy here and void of sunlight. Luckily I have more paint.

Oh Scanmike, how beautiful the DR turned out! I am so happy to hear DH is thrilled also with the results. For suggestions on WT's.......if you paint the Tobacca Road in the LR........that is a very neutral color I would think so you could bring some of that color in your DR in the way of fringe added to drapes or in banding, then do the same thing in the LR.....added something red to the drapes , like banding or a striped panel with alittle red to it. Just a little cross over of colors to tie the spaces together & make it seem more cohesive. Looks like you have a fabulous home & the finishing touches will be fun! Thanks for sharing the pics.....it looks FAB!

your dining room looks absolutely amazing...after seeing your dining room and Bonnie's living room, i am seriously considering painting my dining room the same color...it is presently blue...i have decatur buff in the living room...Your home is absolutely beautiful and I can hardly wait to see your living room painted. Good luck with your window treatments.... Very pretty!

    Bonnie,

I like your drapes in the dining room and the drapes similar to yours with the red that someone else posted. I know what to do with the dining room (panels), but what kind can I put in the living room since I like light and don't want to cover the window? I will totally mix the two colors so that each room compliments the other. Any links to photos of something for the living room. That's why I always jsut had the valance (cheap Lowes valance). I never knew what to put so that I could have light.

I think what you are seeing in the photo are shadows and reflections. At least that is what I am seeing on the left side. It's a beautiful color and room and so is your living room. Your husband does beautiful work and you are so blessed! Your rooms look very well put together and I'd say the two of you are a great team!!! (PS can I borrow your husband for a few projects? lol)

Hi Scanmike........I will think for you but the first idea that just popped into my head would be on each side of the fireplace.....do one panel.....swoop it to the left with tieback kind of hanger & on the other side of fireplace, do one panel, swoop to the right. Add fringe to accent the swoop. OR another idea would be add roman shades made in a pretty fabric.......in my former home I had the best white linen look soft london shades in the kitchen that echoed the white trim on the cabinets in there. Simple but worked perfectly. YOu can pull them all the way up in the daytime & lower at night. Since the fabric was a linen look, it didn't block out all the light. They came from JCP. The thought just struck me as your home has such pretty moldings in it & would hate for you to cover them up with too much above the windows. I usually hang my drapes high but in your case.......the moldings would be lost. Bonnie

Window treatments for DR - If you don't need privacy, you might consider long panels on each side, on a dark rod, perhaps a colour similar to Tobacco Road, either a solid colour or maybe a simple pattern with a mix of red in it and perhaps green. Take your paint chips shopping with you! You could make a matching roman shade for the LR....

Here's a valance idea that I used..mix of a pattern and solids, the solid was the long drapes in an adjourning room. You could also use a solid vertical strip with a patterned fabric on a roman shade.

I like both your ideas. I actually always wanted roman shades. I think they add a bit of an updated, clean look. I also like the look of linen. Bonnie, If I paint the walls TR, which I am tmr hopefully, what color.? I have been looking at Smith and Noble for ideas. My daugther who lives in SF said she would make me panels similar to yours or those other ones with the red in them that look like yours. She could also make me a valance. I have a problem with delayed gratification and hate to wait till she visits in December.

Hi Scanmike.....Here is a pic of the linen like london shade in my former home which was an older home. We were redoing the kitchen counter tops in this picture so excuse the mess. This type would be softer than the roman but it would be whatever preference Bonnie

Hi, I should have been more clear, wasn't suggesting that valance but showing how to tie solid and pattern fabrics in one WT. Here's a better pic of an idea a what I meant in a roman (imagine the centre part has a patterned fabric, outside trim is the same as your DR solid fabric (if you go with a solid). However perhaps the softer london shade or a relaxed roman shade might be a better fit as it would add more "softness" to the room.

I was recently researching roman shades so I'm attaching a few pics that I saved, hope it helps.

This is a roman shade also that is in my guestroom/office upstairs. My seamtress banded the bottoms with a different color fabric to tie in with the jack n jill bathroom. Bonnie

    Bonnie and Fillagirl,

Thanks for the photos. I really love the softer Roman shade. Is that what it's called? I had been thinking about something like that.
