Hi, Please help us make this LR/DR space warmer and cozier. We don't want to ignore its modern identity, but it's not very homy (just sold our colonial home of 23 yrs.) with all the white paint and floor to ceiling windows (beautiful views). This is the current owner's furniture and layout. Ours is Pottery Barn meets French Antiques.

A couple of things stump me: should the furniture face the east, pretty view of church and lake, or the corner fireplace wall, or both? We are not crazy about sectionals. I've seen an apt w 2 identical sofas placed perpendicular to the fireplace.
What to do about the soaring, monolithic fireplace wall? Is a mantel of some kind possible/desirable? What kind of artwork could we put above it? We want less going on, and to make this place feel like our home. Texture and color will help, but where??

We have a 5x6 colorful painting going on the long wall in the DR. Should we replace the parquet floor with planks? We plan to remove the "popcorn" ceiling. Please help us brainstorm. The apt is lovely but not a warm, inviting, home yet. Thanks so very much!!
