Kitchen layout help

Hi everyone. We are ready to start digging next week and I just want some feedback on my layout. I'm struggling with appliance placement. I think where we have the fridge located on plans won't work because when opening fridge door it will hit the bump out of the pantry. Also not shown on plan is double wall oven on the wall just to the side of dining room entrance with "hidden" cabinet type desk area next to that. My contractor suggested moving either fridge or double oven to wall with the sink next to deck door but that seems odd to me. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks. I will try to post a larger pic of just kitchen area also.

I would want to move dw to other side of sink and put fridge next to that. Put ovens where fridge is currently. I'd also try to rotate the island so that the long side faces the range.

As with all architect drawings, there are no measurements for aisle widths or even specifics for between appliances, etc. So, keep in mind that aisles should be a minimum of 42" and 48" is even better if you imagine 2 cooks attempting to use the space.

I agree with the above poster. Fridge at end of sink run as your GC suggested to give closer access to eating area.

Wall ovens where fridge is currently.

Thank you for commenting. I will have them change things around on plans and definitely get the measurements for the aisle size. controlfreakecs- You suggest rotating the island ..is that just so you have easier access to more counter space? I have been in many houses and I prefer the island oriented this way..but I also haven't cooked in those homes.

I make the assumption that the island will be used as primary or additional prep space. In that case, it seems to make sense to me that the most usable length of counter be convenient to the cooking zone.

My former kitchen had a corner of the island across from the range and I found it made it difficult to really make the most of the island. Plus, the current orientation basically creates a path that leads people from your great room space directly back into the cooking zone. I prefer a more protected cooking zone. In an ideal world, your cooktop would be more centered on that wall, but that is nearly impossible with the all ovens and pantry.

What is it that you are gaining with the current orientation? A view? Proximity to living space? I am only thinking of kitchen function, but compromises are made for all sorts of reasons when designing a kitchen. Since this is a new build, I would assume that switching the sink and cooktop are also an option?
