Table Runners

Do people use table runners on a kitchen table? Here is a picture of the table in my kitchen.

I was wondering if I should bring in some black by using a table runner or bring in some color from the other room such as green w/ or w/o some black, rust or red.

Any suggestions on a good source for Table Runners?

Thanks!

Of course. I think you could find something really pretty at Z Gallerie. If you don't have one near you, you can order online.

Pier One always has interesting table runners, too. They no longer have an online shopping site, so it would take an in-store visit.

Don't forget that you could also just find some interesting fabric and make your own. If you don't sew, you can use the iron-on hem tape for turning under the edges.

    Cool furniture in your LR.

I love table runners, some here don't. I think they are a great way to both protect your table from a centerpiece, and provide coordinating color.
Lost of places like JC Penny, Linents N Things etc. have them. You could try on line too for even more variety. And they are also easy to make.
You can change them out with the seasons, and rotate centerpieces.
What color is on your walls?

I have a table runner on my dining room table. My table is wider than yours which means I still have room for placemats without overlaping the runner. I think a runner will not be practical while you are dining and may not be in the right scale for your tabletop; placemats which pull together black with your other colors might be a better choice.

I bought ready made curtains from Country Curtains for my DR and ordered matching fabric to have table runners made. I keep one on the DR table all the time, and use the other to protect my sideboard when I'm serving on it.

Mine is a very simple, rectangular runner with no embellishment. I like that it pulls out colors from the rug that's under the table, and I think it enhances the wood on my tabletop. I have a nice pottery bowl in the center.

marys1000 - it is Basket Beige, I think SW but maybe BM
les917 - thanks, I'm getting used to the more transitional look as old home was more traditional (as evidenced by my kitchen table)

Sky - good point, with 2 DS's it may very well get in the way

    Thanks all!

Home Goods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls all have beautiful table runners for reasonable cost.

Just a thought, if you're not sure about a runner. Would your LR rug look good under your dining table? It would pull in the colors...and I think it would look cute in there. The cream would look great with the cream of your blinds. Then, a nice piece in the center of the table and you're done!

Thank you. The brand name is Superior. I believe it is only sold by furniture stores. I got mine via a decorator but got her to bring price down based on pricing it myself at another store. You can mix & match woods, stains and paints as you'll see from the website. Chairs have 'butt impressions' so are very comfy! LOL!
