They aren't plastic. They have it at Lowe's. It's a suspended ceiling system. DH spray painted ours copper before installing it, it needs a coat of real copper paint too I think though. It's in the unfinished half bath downstairs.

I've seen what appears to be pressed tin ceiling squares in Home Depot - I don't know if they are tin or plastic since I just passed them and didn't look closely. The tile is fairly large and thin with a 3d pattern similar to those in old fashioned tin ceilings.

Is this the same thing as some use as a backsplash? What department at HD or Lowe's have them?

I don't think these would work well as a backsplash. They're kind of a compressed papery material, the same as office ceilings. Cardboard? Foam? Perhaps I don't want to know. They're kind of squishy though and would dent if bumped hard.

I think I saw it in HD along with some tiles for backsplash (I hope this helps). It looks nice, but I don't know if it would work well as backsplash. It may be ok for the ceiling... Good luck

I got mine from HD and Lowes have then and I have put them under my new cabinets and it looks like copper. It is a vinyl but it looks just like tin. I have thought about putting them on the ceiling in the den because it would be much cheaper than the tin but haven't decided yet.

We must be talking about two different kinds of things. The ones I got are suspended ceiling tiles which look like pressed tin.

What you want is at Surfacing Solution. They were recommended in another thread (I think by Les?), and are very reasonably price. I just got my free samples and they look pretty decent. Don't quite agree that they don't need to be painted as IMO they do have a slightly "plasticky" look all by themselves, but I'd bet they look fabulous painted. I'm tempted to get samples of the steel ones but just to do the living room would be over $1k :-( while with the styrenes for the same price I could do the living room, kitchen, AND dining room! So it's on my wanna-do list; we may have to take the LR ceiling down next year to do some structural stuff, so there's no point in fancying up the ceilings now. :-)

This image you post of the antique gold pressed tin is GREAT. #mustangs81 @mustangs81 where did you get that? I need pressed tin for our hallway ceiling and I don't want to spend like crazy but also want it nice. I need to measure for how much is needed or be able to buy and return.
