Remediate that little code fault...

That little code fault with the plug mold needing a gfi breaker?

Long story short, I'm pretty sure the previous electrician is having some serious life issues and is possibly dead.

The new electrician came today. The new electrician says - not only was the plugmold wired incorrectly, but the actual cable leading to the plugmold is shorted between the neutral and the ground. Oh, and the ref is also in the same circuit as the plugmold which is like totally against code with a gfi circuit.

And the original electrician cut so much wire off the plugmold that it'd be difficult to redo it correctly. And unfortunately also cut all the wire off the other end too.

So we decided to replace with a new, longer piece of plug mold that will go up to the refrigerator hut and run a new circuit up inside the ref hut to the plugmold. It gets the new wire where it needs to be without tearing up a bunch of walls or the stainless steel backsplash. Hopefully, it will not be a freaking fire hazard anymore.

The moral to the story is make sure your electrician understands plugmold! Even if they say they do, don't hesitate to ask how often they've ever done it.
