garbage disposal/Two stage?

I am getting ready to purchase a new disposal. My current one is at least 15 years old.

I am looking at an insinkerator 3/4 HP continuous feed Evolution model. But I don't understand what a 2 stage model is. It seems that there are a few complaints about it. It doesn't drain water while running? It doesn't do small amounts well?

I've searched previous threads, but can't seem to find the answer to these questions.

I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

Which evolution model are you looking at? I have the compact model and it works great. How could it not drain water while water is running since you have to run the water while using?

Hi -

We have the InSinkerator Evolution Pro Excel in our main sink and the Evolution Pro Compact in our prep sink. Not sure the differences in the various models but ours works like a champ and is SO much quieter than old disposals! We're very pleased with them.

(It uses water the usual way - not sure what the 2-stage model means?)

It means two stages of grinding of waste compared to single grinding in the old style disposals. "Improved waste food grinding technology includes multi-stage grinding versus standard single stage grinding."
