Help !! Faucet Decisions...

We have just spent hours looking at faucets. We finally decided on Dantz Bellefleur pull down faucet; happened to walk into a 'service' parts place and the man said German (Danze in particular) faucets are expensive and not what they are cracked up to be. Parts not always avail. He recommended a simple Delta "Allora' faucet. I'm confused. The 'service' guy should know his stuff based on experience.

Anyone have any experience with faucet longevity/durability issues? What do you know about Newport Brass? and who makes it? Saw it here on a kit pic, and looks nice.

A while back, someone posted this link. It rates and compares different faucet companies, including Danze and Delta. I didn't save the thread, but I saved the link.

    HTH!

Here is a link that might be useful: Faucet Ratings

I can't speak for longevity yet, but put in a Newport Brass bathroom faucet (they make the Restoration Hardware faucets, and maybe the Pottery Barn ones as well?) and it is very high quality and heavy, praised by my plumber. Of the American brands, he prefers Moen over others for its better repair history.

I thought Danze was a Chinese brand?

Thanks gardenburgher -- I went on link and some received some insight.

circuspeanut -- you are right! I'm sorry that my comment was misleading. Danza IS chinese and has only been around barely 8 yrs. Blanco is German.

I think Danze is German but assembled in China. I have one and LOVE it! It outshines my old Moen and Delta any day. Grohe are also wonderful.

How often do you need parts for a faucet?

Just b/c someone works in a service parts area does not mean they're experts. I do not know if what he said is true...but I would research it before I took his word for it. I also wonder how much they make on a Danze vs a Delta faucet...that could also be driving his "advice".

Danze is not a German faucet. It is a brand name of Globe Union Group, a Taiwanese manufacturer.

Globe Union is the dominant faucet manufacturer in Asia under its GOBO brand. Its faucets are made primarily in mainland Chinese factories by its subsidiary Shenzhen Globe Union Industrial Corp. of Shenzhen, China. It supplies dozens of in-house lines for large retailers such as the Pegasus and Glacier Bay faucets for Home Depot, Do-It-Best brand for Do-It-Best affiliated hardware and lumber stores, and the Ace brand for Ace Hardware, among others. Over 90% of its products are exported to the United States.

The company's bath and kitchen lines appear under many names including Fusion (Fusion Hardware Group, Inc.), Gerber ( Gerber Plumbing Fixtures, L.L.C), Ameristream, Antioch, Anu, Bliss, Brandywood, Bannocburn, Brighton, Camden, Corrego, Enchant, Estrella, Eurostream, Fairmont, Florin, Generations, Ideas in Motion, Melrose, Opulence, Parma, Permanence, Plumbers Collection, Plymouth, Reef, Ruscello, Sempre, Sirius, Sonora, Thames, Tiburon, Topless, Vicar, Waterridge, Western Pride, and WR. Many of the same faucets appear under multiple brands as well as under private store labels.

For more about this company and for useful information about buying faucets, see Sources of Supply: Faucets.

    Good luck.

Another Danze faucet owner here, main faucet, bar faucet and soap dispensers. They haven't been installed yet but they are gorgeous in person, very durable looking as well. I believe I'll be raving about it soon just like Mustbnuts. My advice - don't rule Danze out simply because it's made in China.

Oldtimecarpenter...in the interests of full disclosure, you should tell people that you work for Starcraft Custom Builders. You just registered today and of the two posts I've seen so far you have linked to Starcraft w/o letting others know you work for them.

I've been wanting to share this- I posted that link a while ago (others may have also but to me it was news) and intended to really rely on it. However, I kept going back to 2 or 3 Delta faucets. Delta did not rate so high (not terrible, but not one of the better ones). Then I realized that the faucets we have in our house are builders grade Delta and they are just fine. Maybe not the most stunning, but out of 10 faucets, one had to be replaced and that was after about 10 years. The others are still working fine after 18 years.
So after all was said and done, I went with Delta.Go figure.
