I've heard of people naming their cars, but furniture? That is really stupid. And why would you name it "John"- isn't there already something named that in the house?

Hahaha! I thought perhaps I was just having an EMCM (Early Morning Curmudgeonly Moment), but I'd probably find it annoying at any time of the day. There are a couple of blogs I've stopped reading entirely because the writers (who do a nice job of restoring vintage pieces) insists on naming them: Rosa, Miss Ella, Gertrude, Marilyn, Bobbie Jo. Please. It's like cutesy-overload gone viral. One blogger starts doing it, and others pick up on it, and it becomes a silly trend. I've also really started noticing how many bloggers take photos of the same vignette from numerous angles, ever since somebody mentioned it here in another thread. I don't want to see your Santa-under-a-bell-jar photographed 27 different ways.

While it's a good idea to take a lot of pictures from different angles, it's not a good idea to post ALL of them. Just the best ones.

There's no editing. Talk about narcissistic!

One of the bloggers I know was the same on an internet forum. She couldn't post just one or two pics ... it was always dozens.

I agree Jen, I get so disappointed when I see 10 pictures on the same item. Two, yeah.

I pretty much stopped looking at blogs because everything is WHITE. White furniture, white tables, white rugs on wood floor...Pottery Barn decorating I suppose. Even when I find a country blog, it's still all white! Excuse me, but real country folks do NOT decorate in white unless it's paint.

Basically many of the high-end designers do indeed name their creations (whether fabric, lamps or furniture) ... perhaps these folks are simply following that trend?

For an example -- see page 48 of this month's (Dec/Jan) House Beautiful magazine -- console tables with names like Perseus ... and Hudson .... etc.

Lets BOYCOTT the blogs!! They are getting so annoying! I agree with all of the above.

Polly, what's sad is that most of them have built up a following of people who feed their narcissism.

I don't have a blog but I do restore/repurpose/paint vintage furniture for a hobby/pseudo living and I have never ONCE considered naming any of the pieces, so this is just IMO, as previously mentioned is totally narcissistic.

Maybe some of the followers of these blogs should just tell the blogger just how annoying it is to see this trend?
