No paint on hinges.

You may not be getting answers because it took three tries to get this to post! I was getting the Message Rejected page, instead.

No! One of my pet peeves every time I moved into a new apartment (when younger) or new house, since I've been a homeowner. Paint gums up the hinges, scrapes off unevenly, and [to me] tells me the painter was too lazy to pull the hardware before painting. Same goes for door hinges, cabinet pulls, anything metal on wood. I can't tell you how many times I've either stripped hinges of many coats of paint, or just bought new ones.

On new hinges? No ma'am. Does he plan on painting them while they are installed? That's the only reason I could think of. It would save him a huge amount of effort. At least make him mask the screws that are used to adjust the cabinets. Or make him do it right. Unhung.

On old cabinets that have been painted it doesn't bother me a bit.

It does sound odd to paint European hinges. I would ask him why...

Thanks for affirming my opinion. We talked to our GC today about it, and he said painting the hinges is not going to happen. The cabinets have been built on site but the drawer fronts and doors are being made off site. I think that company will put the hinges on. They may have to remove them to paint. Anyway, I think this is resolved, and I really appreciate your input.
