Countertops IN!

Hello all! Countertop installers arrived at 8:15 this morning. Everything was moving along smoothly, until...They glued the Caesarstone Organic White slab on to the island cabinets. They had already put the pebble Caesarstone on the perimeter and I noticed that the organic white slab was not quite like the two samples I have and have been looking at for the last 6 months. Hmmmm. I questioned them and said "This is organic white? Right?" and they said "yes". So I said, "Can you look at your paperwork?" And they said "sure", and sure enough it was NOT organic white it was BLIZZARD Caesarstone. There is a slight difference between the two colors. I tried not to panic, as the truth was I really liked the color and maybe even better than the original organic white.

Long story short...there were several mistakes made along the way in the chain of command. Anywhooo, because some of the fault fell on our side, the contractor and architect, we really have no leg to stand on as of yet (still not giving up on the investigation), in terms of recouping any money.

BOTTOM LINE: I told them I wanted to keep it and that I like it and in my head am thinking THINGS HAPPEN FOR A REASON. It turns out that the brighter whte of Blizzard ties in to the BM Simply White trim that is all above the windows, doors, hood and moulding.

With out further a do:

ON ANOTHER NOTE:

I was so pumpedd up after the chaos today that I ran out and grabbed this counter stool. Please let me know what you think of the stool. Does it work? I really want to warm up the space with some natural elements ie. wood.

THANKS TO ALL YOU FABULOUS OTK GWers!!

I love it !!!!! the counter and island colors blend beautifully with all the colors in the space.
I also like the rattan bar stool- it does warm it up- I think a touch of black would look nice too!
You and design crew have done a fabulous job.
    Congratulations! What's the next room???

I think it's just beautiful. The colors so well blended and restful. I do love your 2 small windows rather than big uppers. Congratulations.
I do agree that some mistakes turn out to be better than the original plan.

You have a beautiful kitchen! Congrats! It all looks great and will be even more fabulous when you get it all warmed up like you said. I like your bar stool a lot! Looks great. Love your French doors, too.

Thank you for keeping us posted! Everything just keeps getting more amazing with each new addition. I agree - that chair adds wonderful complimentary warmth.

Congratulations, and can't wait to see more.

I was just admiring the chair when I read your question whether it was a good addition.. really nice! How exciting! A beautiful kitchen!

I love the first picture/closeup! The countertops look fantastic along with your backsplash and trim. What is that little jog in the front of the island? I think the stool looks fine but are there any other elements you might want to match? And what are you putting in for a range? I'm very excited to see it!

OMG, it's gorgeous. I also love the bar stool but I think a very dark one would look great too. You must be so pleased.

A very serene kitchen. I think the barstool picks up the floor color nicely. I also like how your French doors allow your floor and deck colors to merge the inside and outside spaces.

    cheers

Thank you to all for your nice comments.

Oldbat2be--If you notice in the 4th picture down you will see a door that leads to our basement. Our washer and dryer are in the basement so I am always coming up the stairs with a basket of laundry so we incorporated that jog in the c.top so that I can move thru that pinch point comfortably. We have 48" Thermador range that goes in on Monday.

Your kitchen is breath taking! What kind of edge do you have on your countertop? I like the clean look. I am also going with BM Nimbus, beautiful color! Enjoy!!!

Chiming in - the new white works just great. I love the shapes and the overall design of your kitchen! And yes, the stool adds just the right tone. Bravo!

It's already been said, but "gorgeous" sums it up for me! Can you give us the dimensions of your kitchen?

I love the color with your kitchen. Was this stone cheaper than the one you paid for, or would it be an even exchange?

Just beautiful! And yes, keep the stools. Love the texture and warmth they add.

Have I missed an update? What's next? The appliances? Would love to see the progress and to know what counter stools you decided on.

Also, what kind of edge do you have on your counters? What is the thickness, and is the edge mitered? If you did not do mitered, is the seam invisible?

    Great GREAT job! Love it!!

BlackChamois--No, you have not missed an update. We went on vacation and summer is now officially over...:( School starts up tomorrow. Thank you for asking, it's nice to be missed. :) Pictures of completion real soon.

The edge of the countertop is called a "mitered square edge". It is 1 3/4" thick. The seam on the edge is invisible to my eye. The island piece is one slab so there are no seams on the surface.
