EBay Issues - any ideas?

I have ordered 7 magazine subscriptions through eBay in the last 5 months. Three I have not received at all (2 are with one seller, the other is with another seller). Another one is House & Garden which I received (maybe 1 issue, or 0, not sure) and it was then discontinued. So, 7 subscriptions order and basically 3 received.

Since all these were more than 45 days ago it seems like I don't have any recourse with eBay/PayPal. Does anyone have any ideas?

I've had problems ordering magazines thru ebay also. First, I would go to the individual magazine websites. It's usually very easy to check on the status of your order or if it was ever even received.

I had to hound this one seller for several monthes before I finally got the magazines. He just kept losing track of the information.
Put all the emails for these transactions in one place so that you can easily forward them if there is a dispute.
I don't know if there's any recourse, can you still post feedback?

    Sue,
I had the same thing happen to me, only I didn't remember for about a year. I sent an e-mail to the seller and they reimbursed my Paypal account. It doesn't hurt to try contacting the seller. I have heard that there are a lot of problems with magazine subscriptions on Ebay. Best of luck and I hope you get a resolution that you are happy with.

I can't post feedback, that long passed. I can't even submit a dispute. They date from 7/11-9/19. Some of them said it would take 7-15 weeks, and I lost track until DH mentioned that he still hadn't received Field & Stream. I then scoured by PayPal account and realized how many I hadn't received. I've emailed the sellers, but I'm not too optimistic.

Does anyone have sellers they recommend?

If you paid through PayPal then they can work with the seller and refund your money. I had to do that once with a seller who never sent the goods (not for magazines), and now I only pay through PayPal.

They do say those things take quite a while to start -- like 6-8 weeks maybe.

These magazine subscription things seem to be a bad idea. I ordered a whole stack of subscriptions from a site special someone posted here, over a year ago. Something like $60 for a bunch of $5/$10 subscriptions. Received one or two of the magazines. I keep forgetting to dig up the receipt in my stack of online snapshots so I can contact someone!

A number of years ago, I found Time Magazine charges at something like $80/yr being charged to my cc. I had totally forgotten about signing up for 3 free months when I purchased sheets from a catalogue. Never even received one magazine. They had charged me for three years before I noticed it. (No, I didn't pay close attention to my statements at that time, lol -- you really need to! with all the automatic subscription rebills when they keep your cc info!!)

I'd just stay away from these things.

    Were they discounted?

I have the opposite problem. I keep getting BH&G and bills for it in the mail and I never ordered it! I'm not paying for it. I hope that doesn't put a mark on my credit or something?

Looks like you've gotten some good ideas here -- contact the magazines themselves, the seller and PayPal. Good luck to you!

It seems like I CAN'T dispute it through PayPal. On their website they don't let you dispute more than 45 days after payment was made. Subscriptions are never received that early.

Yes, they were all discounted. I don't understand why I'm having such bad luck! If you look online these sellers have hundreds of positive feedback.

I've emailed all the sellers. Now it's wait and see, I guess.

So your seller(s) aren't handling this for you? They need to show you that the orders were placed and then you can forward the documentation to the magazines to correct the problem. It may be a bad mailing address or something.

What happened when you contacted the seller who placed the order?

Dealing with these subscription services is a very loose process it seems. Hard to get a handle on when there are problems.

You might let eBay know about the problem anyway, though the 45 days have passed. Last Christmas I ordered a DVD via "Buy It Now" that never came. When I contacted the seller, he said "Oh, I was out of those, I'm getting more in a week." I responded, then why did you list "Buy it now"? We went back and forth and I made the major mistake of not contacting eBay before the 45 days were up.

eBay told me, when I contacted them at 60 days, that I really needed to do this before the 45 day mark. I forwarded everything to them at that point.

My DVD arrived in March, in time for my dad's birthday. It was supposed to have been a Christmas present for him. I still believe it was ebay that pushed the seller into sending it, regardless of their "45 day" posted thing.

So do contact eBay anyway. They need to know. Have all of your documentation handy. I have a special email box for online orders, where I keep copies of all correspondence for anything (eBay confirmations, PayPal confirmations, emails from the sellers, etc).
