For years I've had our tree on a remote dimmer (Radio Shack) and I love dimming it down in the evening as my husband and I have a glass of wine sitting on the fireplace hearth. Does anyone else use a dimmer on their tree?

I don't know if i can do the before and after... but i will try... my tree is definitely not a designers tree... but i love it.. i always start with a fresh cut tree and my ornaments are all sentimental from my mother n law to my husband's ornaments he made when he was a kid... my kid's homemade ornaments, my homemade ornaments... ornaments from friends, my ornaments span decades... i even have have a wicked witch of the west ornament on my tree... (my daughter's ornament when she was 16 she thought that of me quite often) but i love it so many memories... i call it my memory tree!

Our tree in red and white with some black thrown in this year (although it doesn't really show in the pic). Next year, I'm going to try an all black and white tree. I so love Christmas!! Merry Christmas to all!

Originally, not planning on putting up & decorating a real tree. Today, feeling like not quite the same without...walked into the woods and cut this tiny tree for this tiny house. One of the many reasons I love living in Maine ; )

How utterly charming to cut your own little tree in the wilds of Maine! We loved spending 8 days in Camden in late Sept...our first trip there, but we hope not our last. We're thinking we'll never find a town we prefer to Camden. Any ideas on that? It's hard to beat perfection.

I've noticed there is no such thing as an ugly Christmas tree! Not ONE suggestion for "tweaking" the tree. : )

@ carolyn albert..good idea on the dimmer remote for tree lights. We have a remote control for on/off only, which I love but hadn't thought about a dimmer. We usually just have all lights low when the tree lights are on. I'm going to check out Radio Shack tomorrow. Yes..I still have shopping to do!

Decorating this grand and stylish home for the Holidays each year has become part of my Christmas tradition. The Christmas tree, in particular, is always so special. When we started, 10 years ago, the tree had a grand, department store look, with huge, gold dipped pine cones, bows of ribbon and sparkly, red garland. As the years have passed, the addition of paper angels and stars, class pictures attached to paper trees, and the like, have adorned the tree and given it an intimate family feel. The pride and joy seen in the eyes of the child artisans as I climb the ladder and hang their wares in places of importance, really warms my heart.

Love all the beautiful trees!!! We have ours on a timer so when I am getting kids ready for school in the morning, it comes on while we have breakfast, then goes off again until dark.

I love Christmas!!! Merry Christmas!!!

Here's a bit of our tree that we finally put up. I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed making new friends on houzz since I started commenting on Design Dilemmas! I'm addicted to it as are so many others. Merry Christmas to all of you, and I hope the new year brings us lots of new and interesting dilemmas!

That tree is very pretty Carolyn and love that little dove :) I just started with the whole Houzz thing and am enjoying it. I dont own a house or doing any remodling, but so enjoy it all.

Here's one of ours, we had six this year. This is the only live tree, our traditional tree located in the living room. Don't judge it too harshly, the children decorated it.

I keep my tree and decorations up until after New Years..Then I say out with the old, and in with the new! Happy New Year!
