    oh yeah!

So peaceful...and you can see the swing set as well (OK, that may not be as peaceful!)

What a gorgeous and perfect composition. I'm jealous of that lovely tree. All it needs is the (window)frame.

oooh, what a beautiful view! And how nice it will be to watch the seasons change with that great tree!

Now you need to get the book Our Tree Named Steve!

Here is a link that might be useful: Our Tree Named Steve

I am so excited for you, both for the view (and how!) but also for the framing! Hip Hip Hurrah!

I'm so glad you shared this photo because what a fun point of reference it'll be for us to follow your progress.

    Congratulations!

Thanks everyone for the kind words -- I do love our setting!

Yes, there is a swing in the tree, not rope though -- look near the base on the right and you can just spot it. Gives you a bit of perspective of the size of this tree -- it is your typical wooden porch swing.

That swing set has stood the test of time and I do love that the boys still like to play on it. We also have plenty of young cousins to come visit and use it.

The bottom left hand corner you can just spot our garden --vegetables and butterfly bushes and flowers for the most part. We did find two of the cutest baby bunnies in the beds the other day. The deer have managed to stay out (as long as the boys remember to close the gate).

We are officially underway! Lost both bathrooms upstairs, going to take ceiling down in existing kitchen by the end of the week and have taken over most of the second floor. We are adding a 3 story addition....what was I thinking???

Ahhhh is right! I want one! Beautiful. What a joy to look at when you are working in your kitchen. Can't wait to see more. Congrats on starting. How long will all of it take?

mustbnuts - it will be wonderful in the end, and that is what I keep reminding myself. Here is a shot of the whole addition -- which looks huge to me right now! Windows should go in by the end of the week, if the weather holds - raining today though. The ladder is going into the sink window and the bump out with windows on three sides is the "eating area". Second story above kitchen is new master. Ground level will be unfinshed storage as there is a walk out basement there and we do not have garage for bikes, sports equipment, etc.

Estimates on completion are November. I told them I did not have expectation of cooking Thanksgiving dinner, but would really like to celebrate Christmas in the new space! Hope we can achieve that!

    Alice,
Spectacular and classic tree! You are so lucky! Your house is going to be fabulous. I read your post about your current progress and it reminded me vividly of when the ceiling came down in my kitchen. Oh, what a mess! But, that won't last long... Enjoy the journey, you'll look back with satisfaction before you know it!

yeah alice....we all want to come and sit in that glorious swing beneath the one of a kind tree...OK ?? c

Yes, please, with a glass of ice tea and a slice of lemon!!!

What a beautiful view and the house looks pretty great too! Whenever I find time to take out the old sketch book anymore, I'm always drawn to trees with that shape. Oh, what I'd do if I had that one to look at every day!!!

    Thanks for sharing!!!

aaahhhh indeed -- thanks for bringing back memories of younger carefree days dreaming in a swing under a beautiful tree---enjoy the view!

trailrunner - you are welcome anytime! The swing is a wonderful way to spend any evening.

mindimoo - bring your sketchbook right on over -- it is a picturesqe setting most days -- the overflowing dumpster in the back yard is not particularly attractive right now.. :)

lpb313 - thank YOU for reminding me to be grateful every day for the opportunity that we have to live in our wonderful home......I do love to spend the early morning and late afternoon gazing at the tree and often deer, rabbits and the occasional fox wandering through.

Very nice view -- though from your subject line, I thought perhaps you'd hired a really good-looking contractor. ;-)

The tree is gorgeous. I love trees all year round. Even in the winter when they're bare, it's so interesting to study the branch formations.

    Enjoy it!
