I have 4 x 8" quartzite behind my stove (rough face), and 5/8" mosaic stone everywhere else. These pretty much fly in the face of my usual 'easy to clean' choices. But, I just sealed it well and have no problem with wiping it down.

We did ours DIY, and I wouldn't necessarily want the grouting job to do over again, but I have no regrets.

We have a travertine BS and used a urethane grout, which is hard to use and the installer has to be experienced with it and want to do it. It's also expensive, but it seals the tile well so that splashed stuff doesn't stick.

No, you aren't crazy. I had limestone in my last remodel and this one has marble. No issues with anything causing any stains.

I hope you're not crazy because I'm thinking of the same thing! Daltile has a split faced stone tile that looks really good. My SIL has had it installed for three years and it still looks great. She has a very busy household so I'd say it holds up well.

I'm thinking of using real limestone veneer as my backsplash. This would match the exterior and some columns and fireplace inside as well.

My sister used limestone and it is absolutely beautiful. It is not enhanced, but it is sealed. These tiles are Luxor Gold from Home Depot

thanks all for the helpful comments. I'd post a pic of the stone I'm considering but can't figure out how to do it...I think I'm going to pull the trigger!
