You're right, pull-casement windows are hard to find. Our GC had them custom made ($$$$). I will check on the vendor he used and post again as soon as I find out.

The custom window vendor was JT Windows of Chatsworth, CA. They have a website. Lots of cool stuff there. They are pricey!

That's good news as that is one of the window companies that my contractor mentioned he was going to talk to...he also mentioned that the problem in the past with inward opening casement windows has been water leakage inside. I know you probably haven't been through a wet season yet with them but I'm wondering if this was talked about at all...perhaps they've improved them? Thanks again.

Can you tell me about your Brazilian Black soapstone? It looks nice and dark w/o oil. Is it smooth to touch? I heard it was one of the hardest soapstones less prone to chipping and scratching?

The Brazilian Black soapstone is one of the best features of our new kitchen. It seems as hard as granite and relatively resistant to chipping. The surface is smooth. We still have not oiled it.
