I vote for something simple like 4x4s set diagonally or a horizontal 2x6 or 3x6 in the same color or close to the taupe-y shade that is the main color of the island granite. It would really create a pretty relationship between that pretty granite and the rest of the room. I also think it would look great with your perimeter granite.

I agree about something simple and light. You have 2 patterns on your counters and need something non-patterned to coordinate with both.

Pull the dark and light elements together in the backsplash with an inset of darker tiles, a liner, or a mosaic band detail. Your counter patterns are not that busy so the kitchen can take quite a bit more pattern. The backsplash can still be simple and not overly busy, but it does need to relate the contrast you already have in your countertops.

simple pattern. I really like the island granite( it has busy veins) and want it to be the focal point. I tried 1x2 close to island color glass tiles and it looked a little boring. 4x4s set diagonally may create interesting look. I will try it. Or with two very close shade of island colors in 2x6 or 3x6 tiles?

ahhhh...are those the sonoma glass tiles? the sonomas are so beautiful.

The two on the bottom are too busy and too small scale for your space. They are pretty, so maybe a larger tile would work.

The top tile is a nice background, but the pale glass isn't enough of a contrast.

You only need a small amount of dark tile to make this work well.

ebean, I don't know name of the tile. I got it from KD store and it has ceramic base with tiny shining glass on
the surface. I agree with steff_1, the bottom two are a little busy. The bigger piece has nice color, but need to used with something. If I run out of things, then I may consider to use 2x6 or 3x6 glass tile to create a clean look. Continue search...
