It seems to me that you would need to have a 24" opening for the front of a dishwasher. If you have corner lazy susan that has a front that is 24" wide, then you can switch them out. I have not seen a picture of a susan with such a wide front.

I have made a corner wall oven cabinet into a raised dishwasher cabinet. We bought a used kitchen and refinished the doors and drawer fronts and our carpenter put a new veneer over worn cabinets like the double oven. Here is a picture of it, before the kitchen was done.

Wow -- being new to this forum I wasn't prepared for this much response or this much talent and brain power -- thank you all.

Buehl, your rendering is exactly what I had in mind, with the sink just as you had it -- brilliant interpretation! So with the racks extended it would be a simple twist to the left to load.

But now that you've stepped me through it with a visual I realize that it could be a real waste of space in the back compared to what I get now with my lazy susan. Not sure I'm willing to give up 41-45" for that.

I'm off to noodle this some more (measuring tape in hand).

P.S. I haven't seen that many x's & y's since Ms. Stile's Algebra class (where I earned a D+). She told me I'd need to understand it someday, which happens to be today.

Buehl's diagram is fantastic. I copied it and traced a copy of the dishwasher with the door open, then slid it back toward the corner. Would this work, recessing the countertop, occupying the corner space more and reducing the necessary open door space?

More diagrams doesn’t make a bad design any better. That’s just an extremely poor idea that wastes a ton of space no matter what.

@Buehl What an excellent reply, a diagram is worth a 1000 words and adding the math to boot is just the icing on the cake. It's essential that the OP can see how this is going to look and decide if it's something they want in their kitchen or not. Personally for me, I would probably find another use for the corner cabinets but I despise those lazy susans so I can understand OP's frustration and desire to replace it with something more functional.

Generally true. I only did it because I bought an entire kitchen worth of cabinets for $3600 and had a corner oven cabinet for stacked 27" ovens that I did not have a need for. It has worked out pretty well. It is just two adults in our home, though, so no traffic. Having the DW come out at exactly the angle and spacing that Buehl's diagram shows does make it easier to load than having it coming out of the counter perpendicular to the sink, which is what it used to do. Compared to that, it was a better use of space, since it gave us a place to put the huge pantry and desk without losing all of the base cabs that are to the right of our sink. The oven unit was the only corner cabinet we had. We don't regret putting ours in the corner. We love that we raised it a foot off the floor. That is hard to do if you have the DW sitting between two cabinets with a counter above it.
