Have a Moen soap dispenser apparently similar to yours (3" length) for more than 12 years now (installed by previous owners). It clears or extends into the sink about 1/2". Works fine, does not dribble onto counter. If it extended into the sink much further, it would be in the way. I do overfill the reservoir from time to time -- that's a mess on the counter.

I have a Moen soap dispenser also. I also thought it wasn't going to be long enough but it's fine. In the mean time I was looking for another just in case and came across this one, (this one wasn't availabe when I purchased mine) it's also a Moen and it's a little over 4 inches. I'd give yours a try and see how it is. If doesnt work out it can easily be replaced.

My waterstone squirts into my blanco cascade perfectly.
Give it a try.

Put a piece of tape at the back of your dispenser escutcheon and pull the dispenser. The distance between the hole and the tape is the maximum distance the hole can be drilled more forward minus 1/8".

Have your contractor hot melt glue a plywood template to use as a guide to re-drill the hole forward. Don't accept any excuses.

You're right to be concerned. The dispenser tip truly should be over the sink, not the CT. I bought the Moen below, and at 4.12" to center of CT hole, it just doesn't reach. The result has been slight discoloration on the CT which I'm going to try to remove with a poultice which I believe should work. Just have to remember the formula for the poultice mentioned on GW.

I have the delta classic cheapest soap dispenser and it is fantastic. It's only a 3" spout but as I use it for hand soap i didn't want it impeding into the sink. However, because of its upward slant, if hands aren't under it the soap squirts strait into the sink and never onto the counter.

Have had this in my main sink for 5 years and liked it so much I also put it in our coffee station sink when when we remodeled 2 years ago. It performs flawlessly so I could not justify spending higher $$ on a soap dispenser.

Link below shows it at home depot for 34 bucks, but iirc I got it for under $30 at faucets.com or someplace like that.

Here it is in a side view in my sink, you can see it's recessed back so doesn't impede the utility of the sink but because of the slant it squirts to the right place.

Just thought I'd throw this out there b/c I often see recommendations for high-priced soap dispensers on gardenweb, so will offer my view that this cheapie works perfectly too. :-)

Oh, we had this problem too. I thought I'd mocked up every fixture in relation to our sink but when DH and I were preparing for countertop installation, we realized the standard 3" spout on our Grohe Cosmo dispenser was barely going to clear the rim of the sink (our sink is a Porcher stainless farmhouse and has a thick back rim as well as apron). I searched the forum and found the Blanco Alta dispenser which has a 4.5" spout - problem solved!
