Beautiful veining!! I'm also in lust for your sink! Very clever to put the trash hole at the snack station. Congratulations and I can't wait to see more of your reno!

GORGEOUS!!!! You must be so happy!!
I'm hoping to use them, too (even though it's a haul for me to get there) so it's great to hear more positive feedback.

They are so pretty. What a difference the oiling makes. I love that little piece of seaglass stuck in there! Show it all when done- please!?

I am in PA, and Bucks Co. Soapstone is high on my list to work with (when we get to that point). How are they to deal with, as great as I've heard? I LOVE your sink! And I love that you had runnels on both sides, it never occurred to me to do that!

The veining is just beautiful! Love the sink and the drainboards!

Just beautiful! As another recent Bucks soapstone owner, I can just imagine how you felt yesterday. Congrats on your counters (and kitchen!). They look wonderful. We have tons of those pyrite inclusions, too -- they're so interesting! And, your sink is to die for -- so huge and gorgeous. Congrats!!

Those are beautiful!!! Love the lines of the sink. What kind of soapstone is that, did you say??

    Thanks everyone!

BCS was really fantastic all the way through. We did make a showroom visit, but it was about 6-8 weeks ago, so we were not able to pick out slabs. We were shown pictures of various LOOKS that the stone can have (almost no veining to super wild) and we told Scott the wilder the better and let him choose for us. Doug the templater laid everything out so the best parts were front and center. Worked out perfectly as far as we are concerned!

The sink is a block sink; I was all prepared to get a smaller slab sink but DH saw the block sink at the showroom and fell in love....he also wanted a sink "big enough to bathe in" but I stopped him from going bigger than 33". He would have picked a 40-incher if I wasn't there to stop him! It also has a bow front and slight scoop on the top.

We kind of went nuts--getting the 2" beaded backsplash and the windowsills (though I'm sure they'll be easier to maintain than my old wooden ones were) and the Franklin Edge on everything--but we plan be have this kitchen for at least 20 years so I hope it was worth it!

I don't know if this is typical of other stone places, but they even left us the piece they cut out for the cooktop, sanded the corners down and everything...if this was also your experience, what did you use this remnant for?

I believe the soapstone is Santa Rita Venata; the upside is it can be very dramatic, but the downside to this type of stone is that any dings or scratches seem to show up white and oiling them doesn't do much to change the color of the ding (unlike the first sample I received, where the oil darkened the scratch, I believe that was Black Venata). However, they did leave me some sandpaper for the bigger problems and I learned here that Sharpie works well for the rest! :-)

Everything looks beautiful- congrats! We also had BCS install our counters about a month ago and I am in love. They were wonderful to work with. Enjoy your new space!

That is supremely gorgeous stone!! The green/white veining is absolutely to die for. Lucky you!! Enjoy it!

your soapstone looks gorgeous! We are planning to get soapstone counters and sinks too. Thanks for posting your photos.

I saw the sinks on the Bucks County website- the difference I saw between the two types of sinks was the radiused interior in the block sink. Tell me about the block sink and how it's different than the slab sink. Thanks!

The slab sink is made from a bottom piece and four side pieces put together. The block sink is made from one solid block of stone which is carved out in the middle with a water jet. Corners are rounded and there are no seams.

If you watch the videos below--the ones called One Piece Sinks and Hand Built Sinks, I think it shows the difference well.

Your new counters are stunning! Trust me on this...you will get daily satisfaction from them for years to come!

I don't know if this is typical of other stone places, but they even left us the piece they cut out for the cooktop, sanded the corners down and everything...if this was also your experience, what did you use this remnant for?

Florida Joshua did our counters and he left us our sink cut-out. It's been sitting unused for a few years now, but we knew we'd eventually find a way to use it well. We recently figured out how. We are re-doing a bathroom in black and white tile with an antique marble sink. It's kind of large for its purpose, which is mostly just a guest/pool bath. We had been searching for a piece of furniture to put along one wall, but we could not find anything appropriate. Finally, it dawned on me that my wonderful cabinet maker could make us a cabinet that could store pool towels and such, and we could use the soapstone remnant as the top. It will go perfectly with our other choices in there. We haven't had the cabinet built yet, since we want to get the bathroom finished first, but at least we have a plan.

Your soapstone is some of the most beautiful I have ever seen! That corner that looks like sea glass is gorgeous! Your entire kitchen looks so pulled together with good choices. You'll love it.

Thanks everyone! I really have all of you and this forum to thank, I learned so much here---including the fact that soapstone even existed! :-)
