Range hood vent

We just had our GC put up a Faber wall mounted chimney style range hood and had it vented straight up through the roof.
My issue is the Faber paper work clearly states not to change the 6in pipe size. But the last foot out thru the roof he went to 4in and into a 4in Broan vent. We think it may have been a mistake because when he cut the hole in the roof it was 6in identical to the one in the ceiling.
Its a straight shot of 7ft from fan to exit and no other elbows.
But we are wondering if this will cause problems with proper operation of the fan ie static pressure, extra noise?
It does seem louder than in the showroom

There isn't a kitchen fan built that is meant to use a 4" vent pipe. Get him to correct his stupid mistake, or don't pay him. What size boot did they use? I'd hire a roofer to come and take care of the actual penetration, and a HVAC guy to deal with the actual venting if you can't get this nimrod to read directions.

He used the 6in size all the way to the last 10-12in then a 6in to 4in reducer that went out through the roof to what looks like a 4in Broan

The 4" at the roof will severely hamper the flow. Why didn't he go 6" all the way? What he did makes no sense. Get it fixed now.

Assuming you are the smartest person in the room, sometimes results in you being the only person in the room.

He probably used what he had and may say that it was temporary so that the hood could be used, and I thought I mentioned that.

Sad what GC's will try to get away with. Thank goodness you caught him, as a down size to 4" steel pipe may result in water/grease condensation in the pipe due to insufficent size and insufficient motor draw. A 4" Broan motor is for bathrooms and dryers.

You need the proper 6" Broan motor installed; check that its CFM's match what your range manufacturer state is needed too.

You don't need home insurance worry added on to reconstruction angst. Crazy that your GC would do that: call him out.

I'm confused - is your faber hood just a liner or does it have an internal blower? What is the 4" Broan that you're talking about - is it just a vent pipe or is it an external blower? If it is an external blower, then SpaklingWater is correct - it is inadequate as a blower and needs to be replaced. If it is just a vent pipe, then it is still inadequate - but will be much easier to replace.

I apologize to all the Faber blower is a 600 CFM motor.
3 speed electronic blue LED push button controls.
    10 minute intensive speed setting.
    2 - 20 watt halogen lights.
Mesh style dishwasher safe grease filters.
6" round ducting. But all else is non powered venting
The 4 inch is the size of the actual Broan roof exit vent and the last 1ft of the exit pipe to the vent ( see pic )
Which as I assumed should all have been 6in.
