Painted Medallion cabinet behavior?

Hello folks! I have had my Medallion painted cabinets since July and we have had a few problems. Two doors arrived damaged, one they sent a replacement right away and it is fine, the other one, we are are on our third replacement. Each one is in worse shape than the original. The doors are shipped to our KD and she finally started checking the doors before shipping them to our apartment. The other problem is now that the heat is on some of the seams are separating and where this is happening the paint has puckered. My husband is done dealing with the KD and I would like to contact Medallion directly. Does anyone know how to contact them? Their website does not provide any info. Are there any dealers who read this forum out there? Please help!

We had them installed in May and had to have a couple different doors replaced and one took 3 times to get it right.

Our rep indicated the problem you describe has been getting worse lately. He's not sure why.

I went to their web site and on the left hand side of the home page they have a "Contact Us" link above Career Opportunities. If you click on it the address and toll free number comes up.

Hello! I found the number and spoke with customer service and she said she would have the rep call my supplier. I called my supplier and sent her a few pictures. I have not heard from anyone, but since it is a holiday week I will give them a break. Hopefully it will work out. I will keep you posted!

Your issue could be a defect, but you should be aware that solid wood cabinets expand and contract with the humidity and the changing seasons. That's a 100% normal attribute of the wood. This expansion/contraction will cause "cracks" at the joints in the cabinetry, and sometimes will expose the unpainted wood. That's how wood behaves, and it's normal and your research before buying should have informed you of this. Running a humdifier in the winter and your AC in the summer to keep humidity levels more constant (around 30%) will help with the issue. Many manufacturers of both cabinetry and flooring will actually require that the home maintain the humidity at the aforementioned 30% in order to maintain a warranty on the product. Get a humidifier up and running and see if that helps.

The humidity issue can affect the paint finish, but does not explain how many door replacements it takes to get it right.
My cabinet shopping was quite a while ago, but I thought Medallion was a pretty pricey brand?
I'd be livid if I paid a premium yet got sent an inferior product with a lot of hassle to make it right. I sure hope they compensate you in some way for the failure to get it right the first or even second time.

Expansion and contraction are normal, but the OP said that paint has puckered at the seams. There is no way that can be considered normal.

If the Medallion warranty required that we keep a prewar Brooklyn apartment at 30% humidity we would not have purchased them and hopefully our KD would have mentioned this to us. This would be virtually impossible where we live. The gaps are excessive, I know people with painted cabinets and they do not experience anything like this. None of them have puckering paint. Hopefully I wil hear from Medallion soon and all will be well.

Interesting information on warranty conditions. It would be impossible (or super expensive) for us to keep 30% humidity in our house (Littleton, CO). We have a whole house humidifier on the furnace/AC but it doesn't come close to 30%. I'll definitely be reading warranties before we make a cabinet or flooring decision. Thanks for the info!
