Help, another last minute decision

I need advice on cabinet height. The cabinet to the right of the refrigerator and to the left of the microwave cabinet were originally going to be about 12" lower than the cabinets next to them, which will both be to the ceiling with crown. The cabinet to left of microwave cab. is 24" wide, the one next to refr. is 34" wide.

Both cabinets are going to be a 24" deep lower with a 12" deep upper setting on the base. The upper cabinet to the left of the refrigerator (where the painting is now) will be white, with glass doors and will be installed 18" off the counter and end about 12" from the ceiling.

Should I keep both oak cabinets the same at 12" lower than the ceiling, or have them both go up to the ceiling with crown?

I need to decide by noon tomorrow!

It's one's personal preference, but myself I'd go to the ceiling with crown. If you leave gaps it looks like something is wrong. Just my opinion.

Your preferences are what matter the most.

No dusting if both go to the ceiling.

Given that I have no idea of your floor plan and going on looks alone, I would keep the wall cabinets where the painting is shorter - maybe even just 18" tall and set them a little higher - like 20-24" up from the counter.

The one next to the range, I'd think about making it match the micro in height and maybe make it deeper than normal if that's still an option - might even do flush with the micro cabinet. The confusion of lines and shapes next to what looks like a focal point hood/range combination (you lucky dog) would bother me.

If I had to actually open my wallet again - I might begin to believe it was just fine.

I prefer all cabinets to go to ceiling or soffit....I know I'm never going to get up there to dust....who would want to? One less thing to worry about!

Gigi....what kind of floors are those?

I'd also go all the way to the top - terrible greasy dust catcher up there otherwise.

Mmmmm, serious oven envy! LOVE that thing, it will be absolutely stunning with those floors.

    Thanks all.
My decision is made, I am going to hold down the three wall cabinets, but I still have the weekend to change my mind. I figure, if I hate it, I can always have a small cabinet built on top to raise them to the ceiling. I do have a plan for the space on top of the cabs. Ever since seeing a carved wooden pig in a shop in China Town, I have been on the lookout for something similar. I also have a collection of maneki nekos that might look good up there. So, something sculptural that might just need a going over with a feather duster.
Regarding the range, leave your envy for someone with a glass induction range top. It takes me a half hour to clean the top after cooking dinner, and I'm not even a messy cook. When that hunk was installed I looked at it (I swear it was looking at me too) and almost burst into tears. I thought, why didn't I get a simple cooktop, and not some machine that I have to read through a book to learn how to use. But now I love it. I learned by twisting knobs and checking for the smell of gas.

You are crushing my long cherished dream about those stoves. I mean, that's ok - I was never going to be able to afford one anyway :)

What makes it hard to clean? Are they sealed burners?
