Not a problem at all. Porcelain tile is tough.

A hugely heavy portable island with steel-wheeled casters may or may not make a few black marks on tile but those are a snap to clean up. Rubber wheels won't mark. (If the island is hugely heavy, you probably won't be shoving it around though.)

My island is not that big, 30 x 30, but it is heavy at nearly 300lbs. We havenÂt had one mark from the wheels on our tile. Even though my meat block island is heavy it wheels fairly easy and I have the wheel locking option if needed. Over the past few weeks, I have been very grateful that I got the wheels as I have had problems with a combination of things going on in my back. When I unload the dishwasher I place everything on the island top and wheel it all over to the cabinets to be put away. Very handy for saving steps, plus the island legs were cut down so after the added inches of the wheels it is the perfect height for me.

I would love to see some pictures of movable islands. We are considering a 24" x 48" island, and have wondered if we might want to put it on castors. Is this too big for that? What type of storage do you put in your movable island?

We have a very heavy butcher's block that was on piano casters in the kitchen for over 20 years. I didn't damage the vinyl, so I don't see why it would damage pocelain.

When we installed cork floors we switched to 4" magic glides to better distribute the weight, so the cork wouldn't be dented.
