How thick is it? That's right at the limit of where I'd feel comfortable cantilevering it. I'm not a stone installer, just an engineer -- so this is just a gut reaction.

SS is actually softer than granite, not sure about the actual density. The softness works in your favor as it is less likely to "snap" on a long overhang like that. Still that's the risk, albeit a low one.

You are probably fine, but some nice corbels on each end would add some peace of mind.

You are, I think, just over the edge of needing suppport. I think the rule of thumb is 10" of unsupported 3cm. thick counter. But it's easy enough and not outrageously expensive to use supports, so better safe than sorry.

If you don't like corbels, there are multiple options for "invisible" supports. I used the island brackets from Counterbalance. They were easily and inexpensively installed by the cabinet maker.
