water filter faucet at main sink or prep sink?

I know it is personal preference, but would you prefer a water filter faucet at your main sink or prep sink? And why?

At our main sink we will have a soap dispenser, the main faucet, and an air switch for the garbage disposal.

At our prep sink we will have a soap dispenser and the main faucet. I am still debating whether or not to put a garbage disposal at the prep. If we do a disposal there, I will need an air switch unless I get a batch feed (cover control) disposal.

Ideally I think I'd like the water filter faucet at the prep sink, but I think it might get crowded with all of the "accessories."

The thought of drilling holes in the granite terrifies me since it is so "final!" Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks in advance!

I would absolutely do a disposal at the prep sink, no doubt in my mind! That being said, I would so the water dispenser at the main....keeping people away from your prep area if they want water? I guess it could really go either way! But def plan for a disposal at the prep, with air switch!

Which sink do you keep glasses closest to? Consider having the Fridge water run off the filter so that you don't have to purchase expensive fridge filters. Mine run is from the sink to the left behind DW and into fridge.

christine41 and cjc123, thank you for your responses.

christine41, I think you are right about needing a disposal at the prep...

cjc123, you make a good point about keeping the water filter faucet close to where the glasses are...which would be near the main sink. Our fridge is on a different wall than our sink so I don't think it would be possible to run fridge water thru the filter but what a great idea to save on those filters!

Put it at the sink that you want people to frequent most. I wanted my kids out of my main clean up sink, so I put it at my other sink, which isn't really a prep sink for me.

Put a disposal in your prep sink!

I have filtered water at the clean up sink. Mainly b/c it's bigger so there was more space to put it there and also the clean up sink is out of the work zone so that if someone is grabbing a drink of water, they're not in the way.

Our reverse osmosis water filter system is actually in the basement. It had a line to the sink and to the refrigerator but with our recent remodel we only hooked up the line to the refrigerator. I wanted one less item around my new sink. I do not have a separate prep sink. Having the water through the fridge does save on in fridge filters and the water comes out chilled.

Agree with Christine about GD at prep sink (we compost extensively but have GD at both sinks anyway) and water filter placement. I don't want water drinkers getting in my way when I'm prepping/cooking around the prep sink. Actually, since I didn't want one more "thing" being visual clutter around my sink and more expense, I put an in-line water filter on the cold water line under the cleanup sink. This way, I get filtered water without the special faucet. Love, love it!
